High School all over again?

So, I have left work for the final time. Thinking about what it is I am feeling, I have come to a decision on what it is I am feeling.
The last time I remember feeling like this was the night I graduated from High School. Hoping that I and the friends I had made would continue to keep in touch and hang out and such. But somehow knowing that this would not be the case for most of us.
It proved true then and I get the feeling that it will prove true this time around as well. We have all exchanged email addresses and some of us exchanged phone numbers but, out of all those people, how many will I still be in touch with come end of the year when the last of us has left the company?
I know I am sounding somewhat defeatist but, I am looking at this from a realistic standpoint. Also, I am feeling a bit depressed about this whole thing.

Keep looking forward. You're bound to feel a sense of loss for your job and your colleagues and it's just so hard when life seems to be conspiring against you - but if you can just hang in there, things will improve.
You're aware that 2004 hasn't exactly been the greatest year for Maison Teuchter - and we really did hit rock bottom at one point. But things are beginning to come better now - and they will for you too.
Don't give up - and hold onto that glimmer of hope when things look dark.
There'll be a reason for all this, you just won't know what it was until much later.
We're all here behind you, supporting you all the way and wishing you a great new job in 2005.

Change is always difficult for us, especially when it involves leaving people behind. Often we spend more time with our coworkers than we do with our families. So they become important parts of our lives - for better or worse.
Probably you won't stay in touch. That's just he way it is. No reflection on you or them.
All of these changes that we hate are good opportunities for growth - emotionally and spiritually. 2004 has been a rip for several of us. I'll be glad to get it over with.

I have quite some reasons to hate 2004 (and 2003 and 2002 and 2001 for that matter) and eventually it's just another year. Loosing w*rk and cow*rkers and all that sh*t always gives some new advantages, sometimes it takes a lot of patience though. And friends who come with w*rk go with w*rk, it's one of the facts of life. I don't think I am good christian but there is a sentence in The Book I like to remind myself:
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him. (Ecclesiastes 7:14)
