I got an odd phone call form the ex last night. She actually asked when she could take the kids for a weekend. She then asked if she could take them for a week when they are out of school. Who is she and what has she done with my ex-wife? Not that I want the old one back mind you.

Questions to ask are, will she still want them when the time comes, and do you and the kids want this sort of arrangement? It would be a shame to build the kids up and then have her back out. Could she be wanting to sue for custody and be setting up a 'conserned, caring parent' pattern? I hate to be such a skeptic, but considering the history here, I think you need to be cautious.

I have thought of that. Though I doubt it has anything to do with custody. The last time she saw them was christmas, I think that is what it has to do with.

It would be good if she turned over a new leaf and developed a 'proper' relationship with her children.
But her track record isn't great

My first instinct is she is trying to impress someone.
Have you made a decision yet?
By "a weekend" does she mean sometime this year?
I'd feel the same if my ex- rang and asked to see his son.
