Opinionated Lurker

I now lurk less and it is fun.
I try out different virtual moods
sometimes, and I'm sure people think they're
real. Oh well, I must try writing a guide entry soon, if anyone
has a suggestion?

hmm

good idea

i like to masquerade as either a full-on communist of stalinist proportions, or an ultra-conservative who worships our current prime minister, on icq with my labour friends, who get horribly confused heh heh.

just be careful people don't think you're serious, i nearly made some one cry smiley - winkeye

if people take you seriously then its all well and good, and if they
cry they wort be crying because of 'you', only your character

true..proberbly me too (its never happened so I dont know)
but maybe they want to cry.
this place is so anonymous that people can express
feeling they couldn't express to 'real' friends?

I suggest you do an article on lurking. You know in the bushes,in a doorway...etc etc
If you are fond of lurking you should be able to give some insight into this interesting pastime.

Have to be careful not to make it too spooky/voyouristic
though..

Sorry I missed the point here I think.
I think personas are important but I prefer to be the real me even in a virtual world.
Giving yourself a different personality is being untrue to yourself
don't you think??????

Opinionated Lurker

no..only untrue to others.
er..I'm sounding pretty evil here, when I'm not.
I'll go work now

ah yes the match (?)

anyway

i find that no matter how much i try to be someone else on h2g2 it doesn't really work - i can only do the whole pretend thing with people i know irl, because that makes it more amusing, because they know how out of character it is

Who you looking at?? Oh me, well thats Ok then! I find your trying out of different personalities, moods, etc really interesting. I couldn't do it though. I'm just me, all the time, straightforward and honest, you take it or leave it. Whatever I'm like that day is what you get. Of course I am a huge seething mass of contradiction.
Maybe its because I'm called on to act so much that when I'm not actually acting, I need to be just me to give my body time to relax. Or to remember who me actually is, which is why i think the tradition of after show pissup started, it helps you relax back into real life. So there you go.

Thanks for that insight into the life of a top actress.
I actually fail dismally at creating persona, a couple
of messages or emails and I'm me. But I like the
idea and see a long virtual future in trying to be something
I'm not!
