I'm glad I went now. To the meet-up in hyde park that is. It was a great time.
Weird seeing people I had been talking to on h2g2 though. You kind of build up mental pictures of other people, their accents appearance and even their height may be completely wrong. Even personalities can be quite different. Great fun to actually meet them.
As my name change shows, I played rather well in the softball game getting quite muddy in the process of diving to stay in. Very good fun...

You're right about the perceptions you build up of people online, which then change when you meet them in real life.

There are some people now that I want to speak more to after meeting them. It really revived an interest in talking to other established researchers, rather than just picking on newbies
