or on the way there at least. A fortnight tomorrow since my posh new hip was fitted. Today was the first day for well over a year that I have not taken ANY painkillers.
The Spearcarrier put a new waterproof dressing on for me so that I could have a proper shower and wash my hair. He has fixed the bannister, fitted some grab handles, extra bright lights on the landing and in the bathroom and filled the gaps in my 300 year old kitchen floor with wood filler. Also did some delicious cooking and useful shopping for me. At least one of his friends finds himself looking after elderly parents, driving from one end of the country to the other. Good job laptops etc keep them in touch with their places of work.

He's a credit to his mother. He set off back to the wilds of Dublin yesterday and I miss his teasing conversation already. The other really useful thing he did was go and exercise my proxy vote.
Dear Galaxy, I wish you had access to a support network like mine; because I live in such a small village, I have good neighbours to help with changing my socks for me and trundle my rapidly overflowing bins to the end of the lane. Twenty regulars at my local café signed the card to go with a new nightie/wrap combo, new soft shoes and footliners that will have to wait until I can tie my own shoe laces and a big box of little clementines. That sort of care doesn't exist in the bigger towns.smiley - starsmiley - star
