We can be friends without making a list for it

I experimented with the Friends List on my personal space today. Added Bossel. Realized that if I listed anyone there, then I would have to scramble around and find everyone I've talked with on h2g2 to prevent bad feelings if they find their names missing from my list, and I've decided it's absurd to maintain a list. I deleted Bossel, not because I don't want to be friends but because I'm abstaining from the Friends List.

Here's a line of lovey-dovey smooches to console Bossel:

smiley - smoochsmiley - kisssmiley - loveblushsmiley - smoochsmiley - kisssmiley - loveblushsmiley - smoochsmiley - kisssmiley - loveblushsmiley - smoochsmiley - kisssmiley - loveblush

Anyone else, if you're wondering whether I would classify you as my friend, you'll have to use the old fashioned methods of analyzing the way I interact with you, or ask how I feel. (Keep your clothes on; I'm married.)

Mrs. Subcom says I have to go now. Bye.

For a moment, I suspected you might be my brother-in-law Butch. "Monsy" is close to my wife's sister's name, "Manya." But Butch is a good ol' boy from Pasadena, Texas, not from your end of the Gulf coast.

Nope...not from around there, but Monsys' family, or at least part of it, is from Bandara, Texas.

I think of folks from there as "westerners".....around here, we're just rednecks!smiley - winkeye

It's like a whole other country next door! (According to their tourism brochures.)

Sometimes like a whole other world.

a girl called Ben

I only discovered the Friends thing fairly recently, and I thought of putting in links only to people who had left - Hoovooloo, Lucinda, Lilithcookie, maybe Violent Duplicity. Colonel Sellars would have been on the list but the contrary bugger has come back. There seemed to be a public statement value in that one.

Now I just add people whose pages I want to visit on a reasonably regular basis. The neat thing is that their journal entries crop up in my conversations list, and for that alone it is worth its weight in pixels.

If someone is offended that they are not on my list - well sod'em, I say. Though it is a pity you cannot hide the list of your pryees from prying eyes!
