I can appreciate 'forgetting' about your child when you're at work - when I was at the Beeb I used to feel really guilty that once I got into the office my son didn't even cross my mind until I walked back out, but of course I would not have forgotten I had put him in the car before I left for work...

Yes, there were another two people there who had done the same thing. I cannot imagine how those people must be feeling.

It makes horrifying reading! Just about anyone with kids who's ever lost their keys, left their wallet/purse at home or forgotten anything at all in their lives could have ended up in a similar situation...
There but for the grace of (God/Fate/Damb fool luck) go I!
