Maybe there is a high number of deleted entries and new user pages (do they still have hidden A-numbers perhaps?) between each uploaded entry.

There's a gap of 4,500 or so between those lat two, TC. That's a lot in an hour!

Yup, each U-page also has an A-page. In fact, if you've posted on many dna sites, you may have several A-pages. You can see them listed in a user's list of entries in alabaster. In the other skins, they're hidden, but they're still sort of there. The list of "twenty entries" may only show four or five on the front page.

The A numbers are used for entries in all the different sites, they're not just for h2g2.

What are all the 'missing' ones, though?

The ones that are not possible. They're not just sequential.

Take today's FP entry, A57241226. Remove the last digit, and you get A5724122 with a list of entries it *could* be.

(Note that several of them say "This section of the page has not been completed yet." - I think those are potential A-Numbers that have not yet been used.)
