Well done you. That's a wonderfully positive and strong outlook - and that's all you need. Everything else will fall into place. *hug*

Rich, I sympathise. I hate using the phone - as a child, I'd burst into tears if I had to do something as simple as phone home from school about a forgotten lunch, and it still takes me ages to steel myself to use the stupid thing.
But I *have* found that when I finally do make myself use it, things have a habit of being much simpler than they appeared, with helpful people on the other end who have the power to solve problems I can't
So good luck and good willpower to you.

I have no idea how I missed this...
Bloody hell, Rich - I've been weeping! I'm weeping again. Good Lord. It will all come together. You've got a good woman there. Hold on to her.

You can call me TC Posted Aug 19, 2009
(Glad to be of help. )
I wrote that because I can sympathise 100% with the way you were working. I should take a leaf out of my own book!
And what a touching story about finding that posting on the website.
Talk about a Barry Manilow moment!! (you know - that song where he reads the personal ad and responds and it turns out it was his girlfriend all along...)
Have you told her you found it?

Rupert Holmes? Escape - the Pina Colada song?
How Very Dare you suggest that our Barry would sing something so trite
Bermuda Traingle, gotta see it from my angle...

"And when I realised it was Lainey, I also realised what the problem was. It was me. I'm too happy to let things ride, to leave things until the last minute, to make excuses for things not being done, to blame others for not sorting out the stuff I should be doing."
That, and the fact that she's damn sexy and the only woman that would have you, right?

I reckon the pair of you will have the most splendid day of your lives; though the night may be even better

Dammit.

I've had the last three days off work, and have put almost all of my time into getting this thing sorted out.
The wedding date out in The Gambia was sorted out by a phone call and a lucky guess; I managed to guess the email address of the hotel's owner and within ten minutes had a date confirmed. Pays to be net-savvy now and then.
The hotel package is booked, with first-class seats for us. This cost considerably more than it should have; the tour operator that runs the flights was the cheapest, but they sell all their premium seats to another (and more expensive) company.
The reception is booked back here, with a proper, final, per-head quote. I threatened to take our business elsewhere unless we got a final price, and miraculously we got it the next day.
Our suits are all sorted out after much trailing around haberdasheries to find the exact material I wanted. I just need shoes the exact shade of [colour removed by moderator as Lainey has been reading this thread], and I'm sure I can get what I want.
This kind of carthasis works, you know. Pour out your soul online and you'll get a few good words that help you reflect on it. I wouldn't be so trite as to suggest that h2g2 'saved my wedding', but it certainly helped me stride in the right direction.
