Hi Steve
Thanks for the but I'm on the mend At first I was very hurt and angry but I'm not doing too bad these days. They say time's a healer so I'm keeping myself busy so I don't think too much. Hey, toothache still deserves a so that still stands.
I've not been Southport for years, used to go as kids for hols as well as Blackpool and Morecombe (I come from Wigan, so they're easy enough to get to). I know the docks well, my ex husband had family in Dingle so we went quite a bit. His Grandparents lived on Elswick Street where they filmed Bread (although it was called sommat else in the show)
Anyway I'll leave you building your sand castles on Southport beach

Julie
All gratefully received whether I deserve them or not! Thanks.
Glad you are on the mend - and busy usually works for me (and there have been times, though not recently **crosses fingers**.)
Sandcastles! I wish. Nearest I get to that is tearing up the coast road late for an appointment more often than not, hoping the wind is not blowing a gale (one colleague had to have car resprayed after a sand-blasting). You can see the tower and the Big One in Blackpool on a clear day.
Docks changing all the time (pass them every day on the way to Bootle). Liverpool full of holes and cranes at the moment (capital of culture, be nice when it's all built and something to look at). All looks very pretty but part of me thinks they are somehow tamed and have the stuffing gone. Still, better than derelict I suppose.
Keep on keeping on

Hi
It's been a very busy few weeks, lol. At least it's keeping me out of mischief though (well sometimes ).
I don't drive (yet) but the sandblasting sounds like an expensive nightmare! The hazards of the elements
I've never been on The Big One (so far) as everyone is too chicken to go on it with me. I plan on visiting some of my relatives in St Anne's this year so you never know I just might get to go on it!
Yeah, the Docks have changed over the years. Some of it good, some not so good, all for the sake of progress.
That half sheep half banana "art work" always gets me, I don't know what the artist was on then they were building that, or what the council was thinking when they gave approval!!!! The mind boggles.
Anyway, I'd best get on with this painting, unfortunately it won't go on the wall by itself. I'm doing an Ann Maurice (House Doctor on Channel 5) style make-over so every room is being, lightened, brightened, decluttered and accessoried. Bye, bye blood red wall and hello boring magnolia!
Speak soon

Hi to you too!
Out of mischief. How boring.
Just looking at the Big One is enough - there is one in Southport called the Traumatiser which is bad enough. Remember being in charge of a big party of pupils at Alton Towers and being stupid enough to be morally blackmailed into going on Nemesis. Not good - felt ill all day and threw up on the bus going back to school. Never again.
Well, art in public places - with you on the stupid lamb banana, and they keep moving the blasted thing around. There is some good stuff (including a very low key statue of Eleanor Rigby) but that yellow lump is plain horrible (and you can buy little versions of it to put on your desk. To throw through the window, more like). They are just putting some rusty men on Crosby beach (Anthony Gormley, Angel of the North man) which look worth visiting though.
Best wishes for the makeover and declutter (now the second is what I need too.) Magnolia over blood red sounds interesting - do you know 'Adrian Mole' - the bit where he painted his Noddy wallpaper black and it was so scary the dog refused to go in the room! He had to colour in the yellow bells on Noddy's hat with a black felt tip.
Hope the new light bright uncluttered spaces are an inspiration.
Almighty thunderstorm here this afternoon - just as I decided I would be able to get the grass cut before it rained
Keep on keeping on, good as always to hear from you.

Hi Steve
Ok, I'm getting worried, I KNOW I replied to this posting, but it ain't here! were out in force on that day if I remember though, cos I had to do yet another blinking reformat!!!!
I have had to sign up again by the way cos either I've gone totally round the twist or hootoo wouldn't recognise my name and password, from the looks of it some of the others have had the same problem so I'm not booking myself into the Funny Farm just yet , I've had to access this thread through someone else's space so I could catch up!
Right now I feel like I've been on the Traumatiser , I over did it yesterday so my body has let me know about it today. Ah well, worst things have happened at sea or in your case on the coach I bet that was pretty hard to live down?
Who on earth would want a minature lamb-bannana on their desk? It's the kind of thing you'd buy someone you dislike intensely
I was down the Docks last Friday with my Sis and 2 of her mates to watch Will Young. We went watching him last year and could see the growth in his performance this time. We were 3 rows from the front and I'm afraid I turned into a teenage schoolgirl and screamed my head off and waved at him madly everytime he came to our end of the stage Yes I know I'm the wrong sex, lol, but that doesn't matter
Crikey, I've not read Adrian Mole in donkey's years, but after that description I'm going to have to book it out of my local library . I haven't any Noddy wallpaper to fighten people or animals with but I've just got rid of scores of cuddly toys which I've been collecting since I was so high to a grasshopper A friend suggested that it might be off putting to viewers with so many eyes staring at them, she has a phobia about those porcelain dolls so I think she's biased, but just in case I thinned them out considerably to a mere handful
I remember that thunderstorm, I bet you were gutted at not being able to get the grass cut?
Anyway, I'm off to the warmth of a and the fire.

Hello Jules
Tme flies, suddenly realised how long since the last posting.
And yes, throwing up on the bus coming back from Alton Towers did take a bit of forgetting; though I must have looked very green because I got very solicitous sympathy too. Not that I milked it, oh no.
Will Young sounds a blast! Tempted myself by Brian Wilson but wanted to keep old memories. Daft really, I drive past that big top just about every day, and haven't been!
Odd thing down our road. Walking out the other evening getting air, and passed a row of shops near us. Ordinary shops, newsagent, off-licence, takeaway etc. There was one that was being worked on so being curious glanced inside, to see two shopfitters enjoying a coffee break, and what looked like a dress rack loaded down with dog-leads. Stepped back to read name over door - it is called (ahem) 'Doggy Style'. Really. Looks to be a poodle parlour but I can see the road becoming an accident blackspot as drivers do a double take.
The rust men on Crosby beach are all there now, must pay a visit when the tide is low.
One thing about this weather, the grass has gone on strike and I haven't cut it for a fortnight.
Presented certificates at a school two days ago - winners got with them, and from the stage you could see the choccy disappearing down the mouths of the early winners. It's a specialist sports college, good to see them promoting healthy eating.
Summer's gone here - feels like October. Perhaps it is saving up for more warm days.
Odd about the access to hootoo - had to change my password too. Still nervous though - with cause, blasted laptop crashed again the other week full rebuild this time, done by one of our 12 year old tech support staff. Sure they must be highly qualified and competent - just wish they weren't quite so young looking. Must be time for me to retire.
Time to sign of when I find myselg burbling. Take care.

Time certainly does fly I've seen the backlog on another thread and don't want to go there!
Funny thing about your home place, you don't get to see a lot of "tourist" attractions as they are on your doorstep so you keep saying "One day I'll go there", or I do anyway.
Hmmmm the shop sounds like fun, I might have to see if I can take a trip and buy my cat a collar I'll have to be careful how I word my request to my partner though, otherwise he might think I'm asking for something else I can't see the attraction of dressing dogs up in them ridiculous outfits though, I felt bad enough when my cat had to wear a lampshade at xmas due to a fight he'd been in.
I'm sure the was calorie free of course! I wish, I'd buy a truck load if they ever came up with that Speaking of I saw Willy Wonka today and must admit it isn't as good as the original, although the sets were good. Some things are best left alone as re-makes don't do them justice.
We're not doing too bad on the weather at the moment (apart from the odd day). I don't have any grass to worry about at the moment as Craig (my partner, *we're too old to be girlfriend and boyfriend! although he does refer to me as "The Missis"*) has dug it over for me, eventually we'll turf it and put some flowers around the edges. We cut down 2 trees in my front garden last weekend, it's not half made a difference to the light coming in. At the moment I've got newspaper covering the windows to stop the nosy parkers having a toot in, I feel like going out and asking them if they fancy a tour at £2 per head
I know all about feeling old, it's my nephew's 15th birthday next week and it seems like only yesterday he was in nappies and trying to poke the dogs' eyes out

This is really out of order - positively months since last posting. Combination of summer and recent endless problems with BT over phone line (call centre in India, I suspect). Those are my excuses anyway
Did eventually get to see the rusty men in Crosby - quite impressive really though the ones up to their necks in water are a bit disconcerting. Of course visiting wags had draped a few with Liverpool or Everton scarves. All part of the pleasures of life.
Had positively the wateriest ice cream while we were there. Yuk.
Old! you should worry - my youngest baby sister has just passed 40. Dear oh dear.
Re nosy people peering in - try waving energetically - my dad used to do that and the looks on the faces cried out for a photo. Mind you he used to toot and wave a total strangers just for the hell of it when he drove us somewhere.
Take care

Hi Steve
I've not been around for quite a while as we've had quite a time of it to say the least! Most of my time is taken up with sitting with my terminally ill Mother these days so other things are understandably being put on hold at the moment. My Dad passed away 2 years ago yesterday of cancer so I'm learning from the mistakes I felt I made with him and am more accepting of the situation and determined to make the most of the time we have left (a Dr recently predicted she wouldn't last a month but she's hanging in there!).
Anyway enough of the dark cloud that's just passed over the conversation.
at the ice cream! I love a 99 but not the one you had by the sounds of it.
Hey, you know what they say, you're as old as you feel! In which case I'm still a teenager inside but my body went the other way and jumped 30 years on
I have eventually put some curtains up as enough of my relatives said they were bored with reading the same articles everytime they passed by Your Dad sounds like fun, I've been known to wave at complete strangers when I'm a tad under the influence but never sober! Mind you I've been known to do a lot of things under the influence that get dragged up by my family when they really want to embarrass me to newcomers
Anyway, hopefully speak soon, gonna pop onto another convo and show my ...... face

Hello Jules
Sorry about your mother (sorry! useless word but hope that it conveys something real. Better than trying to emote when you're not there, I think - hope you aren't offended by that). Mind you, Dylan Thomas had a pretty strong view and I've always loved it, hard though it is.
Oh, ice cream. Well yes, lovely lovely goo. This summer far far away we came across a seller who 1) squirted the first bit into a paper cup so we only got thick stuff; and 2) asked us most concerned to please sit down so we wouldn't drip down our clothes. Not, I regret to say, on Crosby beach. Had green tea flavour too. Wow
Dad was (is still) a lunatic as you'll realise. I must be a great disappointment - I'd not have the bottle to do any of that, even though I'd happily laugh at him.
And finally, recommend the film of Howls Moving Castle - wonderful animation (though the new Wallace and Gromit will stay with me a long time). What juvenile taste I have, and do I care?? Absolutely not.
Sitting wondering whether there are any more 'trick or treat' kiddies coming - or whether the rest of the box of 'heroes' is for home consumption.
Keep on keeping on
