Hope all going well with whoever has replaced Mr Porter (didn't he send someone to Crewe? Sorry, old song) smiley - erm
We have just gone through a two week inspection which has taken most waking moments - but it is over and smiley - biggrin all round.

Three weeks ago! First the inspection of the Authority (sighs of relief all round) then a friend's wedding (in Israel). Back to ground and what passes for normal, breathing properly again.
How is the market theory? We have been steeped in 5th Discipline stuff at work of late (sounds positively kinky - in fact the truth is far more mundane). smiley - erm
Keep spirits up, etc etc

Hi Steve

No worries, I understand about the pressures of RL taking over. I haven't been on line for a while cos of my pc dying on me, using the local library at the mo so I'm watching out that I don't get thrown off (chat is forbiden unfort!) smiley - sadface I've been up to my neck in my degree, had lots of stress in RL so friends and family have been asking if they've missed my funeral cos they haven't heard from me for so long! smiley - smiley

That 5th Discipline stuff does sound kinky smiley - rofl but maybe that's just my mind smiley - biggrin sounds far better than Marketing, that's for sure! Speaking of which, I'd rather we didn't! I've come to the conclusion that me and marketing just don't mix, and it's a closed book exam in Jan as well so I have to know my stuff smiley - wah Ah well, I can only re-sit and re-sit and re-sit until I'm 99!

Hope to speak to you again soon when p.c is up and running again.... oh, speaking of keeping spirits up, did you not mean keeping Mr Vodka down? smiley - rofl

Good to hear from you Jules

This is where we came in! My laptop crashing, now your broken pc. I think of them as 'god bless Bill Gates' moments. Many sympathies, smiley - choc etc.
5th discipline is good - only scary bit is when it focuses on organisations not working well and I recognise my own.smiley - winkeye.
RL has a habit of roaring in, doesn't it? Sure the subject I won't mention will have stuck to your brain by Jan. Best wishes with that,
Decided to learn Japanese last week (don't ask, but thinking poss of a visit.) Those wretched people have three alphabets, sort of. Honestly, talk about make it hard for old language learners. Oh well.
All the best with keeping vodka down - or at least enjoying the attemptsmiley - bubbly
Bye for now

Hi Steve

Sorry I've not been in touch since Nov (shocked face) Doesn't time fly when you're not having fun, lol! It's been one thing after another here but I'm re-connected at long last today smiley - somersault How've you been?

Hi, good to hear from you. Not bad, how about you? We're all charging around in the office because Easter is so early, and there are still the same number of schools to visit etc in the term. Ah well, can't grumble, it's a brilliant job, really.smiley - biggrin
Congrats on re-connection - good news when you've been without, so to speak. Intrigued by new name, probably stunningly obvious but I am stunningly slow at working things like that out. I'll stay nervous till I leave, I think!smiley - erm
Ah well, sleepy time. Another lovely day beckons.
Best wishes to yousmiley - cake

Hi Steve

Busy time then for you? smiley - tea and sympathy smiley - biggrin As for my new name, it's not glaringly obvious. It stands for Mentally Unstable Female (cos of recent stresses which my other half says I'm turning into a psychotic B1tch, lol)but they should hopefully be resolved later this week with any luck smiley - biggrin then I can revert back to my sweet smiley - angel self again.

Hi again
Messages sound pretty stable to me, so there's hope yet. Don't have sympathy for me whinging about being busy, no-one asked me to do this job and as I said I love it really (well most of it, and that's a pretty good thing to say, isn't it).
And you? I remember from previous messages that there was an exam in Jan? Yes I could politely ignore, but seems unfriendly not to ask - smiley - blush if it a subject that dare not speak its name.
Best wishes, still nervous, but working on it Steve

Hi Steve

I'm glad to say that things have improved on the unstable part, lol. It was a case of deciding that love conquers all in the end and to put aside the stubborn and pigheaded side of me (which is hard to do at times!) so that peace can return in my household.

Hey, regardless of the fact that you love your job (in most), we all need a good old whinge from time to time smiley - biggrin but you are one of the fortunate ones if you're doing something you love and enjoy, there's nowt worse than being stuck in a job you hate (been there, done that).

As for the exams, I'm afraid they didn't happen due to health problems smiley - sadface I'm disappointed but relieved not to have done them. I'll take them in August if I don't get kicked off the course for taking too much time off. Unfortunately my health didn't seem anything to worry about when I enrolled, but it's proved otherwise sice. Oh well, it could be far worse believe me! Thank you for asking smiley - kiss.

Jules - hi again

You'd hammer in the morning?
This identity shifting is making me dizzysmiley - erm. Hope it isn't a retraction of saneagain.
Ho ho at work. Top people went on a jaunt (terribly sorry, didn't mean jaunt, meant awfully important conference in New York). Took off on Thursday last. We got a text message from a friendly colleague saying that check in had been interrupted by two of the most awfully important ones being taken off to be searched - think someone made one of those jokes at check-in that you just don't make. Much hilarity at the office.smiley - rofl
I still hate exams, even after all these years, so every sympathy. Reality may never be as bad as anticipation, but try telling that to someone anticipating the worst - like me before a test. Last lot was for a job, psychometric things, one of which was impossible (used a pin).
Sounds hard, juggling all sorts of things to get on. Can only sympathise, and avoid using platitudes like 'I know how you feel'. Doubt if I do - but what is obvious that you'll have a jolly good try (would have used other words but suspect would be thrown off site).
Much smiley - choc unless off it for Lent.
Best wishes

smiley - sorry Steve didn't mean to make you dizzy as well as nervous! smiley - rofl

The new name is to do with this darned p.c again (fed up of trojans, viruses and adware/spyware popping their ugly heads and other bits) not anything to do with taking it to a person, honestly smiley - angelsmiley - rofl

Oh dear! to the NY thing, bet they won't make jokes about sticks of dynamite or anything again, lol. Bet they won't live that one down for a while.

Hmmm anticiapation can be a good thing at times, but not when it involves any kind of exams or tests smiley - sadface will let you know how I do when I eventually take them. I think Mr Vodka and I are gonna become very good friends before and after (but unfortunately not during) the exams. Right I best pop off but will take all the virtual smiley - choc going, I don't do Lent smiley - blush

Hi again

I don't do lent either.smiley - cheers
As for NY episode, one of the ones searched was someone who spends their lives being sarcastic about other people. So we won't mention it. Much. More than once a day. Childish, yes, but yah boo sucks is therapeutic sometimes.
Blessed computers. Given up counting the time I have sworn at mine. As for the network at work, well, it definitely knows when you are in a hurry.
Back to roots this weekend - return visit to Stoke, place of birth and upbringing, not been properly for years. Strangely changed and not changed, if you see what I mean.
Nice to eat a proper oatcake for the first time in yonks. Yummy.
Change names as often as you needsmiley - smiley. All adds to rich and varied tapestry of life.

Hi Steve

*dusts off cobwebs from the thread*

Sorry it's been so long, I'm afraid the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated smiley - rofl. Just been caught up with the usual p.c probs and life probs, but hopefully *fingers crossed* all that is sorted out now.

So how's things with you? smiley - biggrin

Jules
Hi to you too - nice to hear from you. Snoozing between frenetic bouts of work, that's how I am! Everything in garden lovely (if b** cold at the moment) and happily rolling along. Only cloud on the horizon at present the completion of two root canal fillings in teeth. Never had such a variety of interesting noises and grinding inside my head. All now seems just about ok and I am cautiously beginning to eat on both sides of mouth. Still, it's got some pretty cheap sympathy at work which is always nice (if feeling a bit bogus, after all it's only toothache)smiley - blush. Last instalment this Friday (the 13th, smiley - erm)
And you? Still battling with the studies? Like banging the head against the wall, lovely when you finish.
We went to the Hitchhiker's Guide film last week - loved it, and I'm fussy - hated the TV version.
And finally, as they say, if you like cool jazzy music, Pink Martini, 'Hang on Little Tomato' (irresistible title anyway) is lovely. They have a nice website if you can get to a fast connection. On the other hand, if thrash metal is your thing, you'd probably hate it.
All the best - keep smiling through smiley - ok

Hi Steve

smiley - hugsmiley - kiss for your poor teeth! smiley - yikes I've never been plagued with tooth probs, but I can sympathise as Scott had to have one a couple of months ago. He was in agony as he'd also got an abscess (which he didn't get seen to straight away!) so he had a pretty rough time of it. Hope you're not superstitious with it falling on the 13th! smiley - erm

Unfort the studies are no more smiley - sadface as I had too many health probs which interfered to the point where I was asked to come back again when I was more sorted. Sometimes life doesn't go quite the way we want it to, but no doubt something will crop up sooner or later!

I have a vague recollection of Hitchhiker's from my youth, I wouldn't mind going and seeing it sometime. Cool jazzy music is fine by me, lol as I did have a guest whom stayed with us for rather longer than I wished him to! He played heavy metal rather too loudly for my liking smiley - grr, but he's well gone now thank God smiley - biggrin.

Hope it all goes well on Friday for you!

Thanks for sympathy - all undeserved! Teeth now on the way to contentment and last appointment was the end of the treatment. The dentist said that the surgery was very quiet on Fri 13th but I am a very unsuperstitious person so no issue for me. I just want to be able to eat normally again - and it seems as though my wish may be granted.smiley - ok
Sorry about the interrupted studies - hope something else does crop up - make your own lucksmiley - magic.
Gone v cold again in lovely Bootle, view from Town Hall is as dispiriting as usual - I get out as much as I can.
The heavy metal would have driven me barking - I think Status Quo is pushing things a bitsmiley - run
All the best

Hi Steve

Glad to hear your teeth are sorted smiley - biggrin. I didn't think that I was superstitious, but I suppose it's the way you look at it. It was my birthday on Friday 13th, and instead of getting a card off my fiance, I found out that he was cheating on me!

However, I count it as a lucky (but painful) escape, so I'll be ok soon no doubt. There's a chance of me getting a job, so you were right in saying something would crop up.

Just picture yourself in an idylic place and forget the view smiley - smiley

Speak soon!

Ouchsmiley - hug for the life part. No words, hope all is well. You see what I mean about the toothache sympathy for me being all underserved, though. Perspective, really.
Hope the chance of a job turns into reality, though, best of luck and wishes with that - smiley - fairy smile on you.
View at least changes - I get to go to sunny Southport or leafy Formby as part of work. Worse places even than Bootle - view across the docks quite impressive, really.
Best wishes
