It's been months since I posted a journal entry, so ...
Over the summer I took a beginning voice class at the local college, and I had so much fun that when the Fall semester started I took two (2) voices classes.
Basically I couldn't make up my mind which to take, so I took both. One class, taught by the same voice instructor who taught the summer session, was in her home. The other class was taught by another instructor was at the college.
I've been learning a lot from both instructors, and can sing in my head voice easily now. Well, not right now, because of this blasted head cold, but ordinarily. It is fun to perform songs and very different from being an instrumentalist. I can't hide behind my sax, you see. It's just me.
But two classes at once is a bit much with the job and other obligations and projects, so when Spring semester starts, I shall have to actually choose.

And which voice coach are you going to choose Happy Nerd?
I love the saxaphone - although of course it is a jazz instrument and for the life of me I cannot remember who were the great jazz saxophonists!!
In fact it would seem as if my short term memory loss - so far the only apparent result of the "global stroke" ( huge name that!!) would appear tp be the short term memory loss.
If we do not talk before Christmas Have a Happy, Peaceful and Blessed one.
With much affection

I still can't make up my mind! They are both very good instructors in different ways, and I've made good progress in a relatively short amount of time.
Some famous jazz musicians you may recognize - Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, and Gerry Mulligan, but there are so many. It's amazing to realize that the jazz age has been going on for at least 100 years and shows no sign of slowing down. Jazz just keeps evolving.
