Husbands and stock

On Saturday, we went to Bakewell farmers' market; and spent an obscene amount of money - the organic meat stall, before we even went in, cost us £86 squid. Local venison, goat, locally sourced ostrich, goose and burgers and sausages various.

Most favourite were the vegetables: I have never tried gerusalem artichokes - they are wonderful. We bought the normal stuff - carrots, parsnips, swede, turnips, cauliflower, onions, leeks, potatoes etc.,

I decided to make some soup!! Yesterday, I made cauliflower soup with red chillies. It was delightful.

I also made a beef stew; which of course entailed loads of veg - I used all the peelings and bits and bobs to make a vegetable stock; which was to be used for the basis of the carrot and corriander soup for today. However! There's always a smiley - bleep however!! When I got up this morning, I could not find said stock. Questioning SS - he said "stock? - I thought it was dirty water and threw it away"smiley - grr

There are times!!!

The next lot of stock is currently cooking with a note to say 'THIS IS STOCK - <****> off note at the side!!

I have a husband like that. When I asked him were the mini vaccuum cleaner was, he said;

'You haven't used it in over a year, so I took it to the dump'

Count yourself lucky you have husbands!smiley - yikes

I have to do everything myself, and nothing gets chucked out. Washing-up doesn't get done if I don't do it, and DIY is a nightmare to organise. smiley - sadface

However, the TV remote belongs to me, and there's no-one snoring on the other side of the bed.smiley - sleepy The pristine bathroom is just as I left it, clean with towels hung upsmiley - towel

On the other hand (counts again) there's no-one to escort me to the two family weddings and a christening this year, and I'll be suffering from smiley - bluelightsore-thumb syndrome againsmiley - doh

Oh, I like the husband in a drawer idea too smiley - ok I'll have one of them please.

Jerusalem artichokes are delicious smiley - drool but they give me terrible wind smiley - flustered so I rarely eat them. Apparently if you boil them with the skin still on, then peel it off just before eating, the side effects aren't quite so bad. Can't say it works for me though smiley - erm
