The sun is not shining. I am neither bright eyed nor bushy tailed; but the dickie birds are singing; at least, the blackbird is
We are talking 3:40 am. All is black as pitch! Dawn chorus? Blackbird is now joined by another, as well as a robin and there is absolutely no sign of dawn!!
It is now 4:12am and they're all at it! chaffinch, robin, blackbirds various, blue tits - there's a greenfinch somewhere; and I've even got Captain Claw in on the act - "shout him home WS for heaven's sake".
Why can't the little have a lie in?

Oh, Scorp,
I did my best. They were feeding here at 5am, and probably before! The Dawn Chorus is lovely if you choose to listen to it, but if you can't sleep it is an irritatingly cheerful noise.
I hope you got some kip eventually It's usually when you are supposed to be getting up
Hope you are feeling a bit better. Chat later. I have shopping to do

Oh dear, Scorp
It reminds me of Dad 's former partner (medical partner - and one of the most up-tight pompous people I've ever met) who lived in a beautiful part of the countryside near Chester in a delightful house, complete with duckpond, of which he was inordinately proud.
However, he wasn't exactly at his best first thing in the morning and one summer day asked (knowing that he was a hunting man) if he'd come round at dawn and shoot the pair of Mallard that had taken up residence on the pond and which were waking him with their quacking at dawn each day
was askance of course; apart from anything else, it was out of season. But the man's two daughters thought of the ducks as pets So he refused and the partner called in Rentokil who recommended netting the pond
A week later, when I was working as receptionist at the surgery, called me into his consulting room and proceeded to crawl out of his window, to stand under his partner's window, and blow one of those duck-call gizmos repeatedly
His partner was Not Amused
Ah happy days

There's nowt worse than lack of good quality sleep. Having suffered it for some time now I can sympathise. Hope you can catch up with sleep soon.
