It wasn't product placement. It was a chemical hazard warning.

I'll give it another go
On my old machine it all worked perfectly. But I am having real difficulties getting RealPlayer downloaded.

Realplayer's improved.
Ah...
John Donne at the gym. Unfortunately tge pool was closed...but I've a training session in town tomorrow am, so might go 1st thing.
Dinner at Wagamama, in a plush new shopping mall. Lovely peopel to loook at...especially the stunning lady in the bright, BRIGHT blue and purple shalwar kameez. Wagamama is *good*! Healthy, tasty food from a chain!
The man at oddbins has introduced me to Martin Miller's* gin. I've been drinking it frozen, topped up with lots of iced water, with cucumber and various herbs (parsley, mint, basil)
Glastonbury, The Movie on TV.
* Not to be confused with the Martin MillAr who wrote 'Milk, Sulphate and Alby Starvation', 'Lux The Poet', 'Dreams of Sex and Stage Diving'...etc.

I had Branston for the first time in 2003. A local shop started stocking it in 2007. During the interim, I mail ordered the stuff. That, and HP Fruity. Gawd, are those two GOOD. And I did develop a temporary fondness for Jaffa Cakes in 2005 when we bought the "Father Ted" box set.

Dogster Posted Jun 8, 2008
Wagamama - good but, and here comes my inner old man, not as good as it used to be. Those of us who have been going there since before it was a chain (just one little poorly advertised basement near the British Museum, I even mentioned it on my personal statement when applying to university back in 1997, see A626762) have noticed that after leaving there nowadays you have a really odd salty tang in your mouth. I think they've upped the MSG and reduced the number of healthy, quality ingredients. Also, the chilli chicken ramen used to be really good, decent quality chicken which had been grilled over an open flame or coals (not sure), and now it has an insipid boiled flavour.

Back to Sex & Guinea Wigs. I had one especially horny one actually ejaculate over my foot while i was changing his cage litter & he happened to catch a glimpse of the girl Guinea Wig who lived next door.
Ed, what's the name of that thing like a Swiss roll, involving tamarind paste & cabbage leaves, in B'ham we bought it in tins, you slice it & deep fry it...think it begins with C?

It was *better* than I remembered.
Terri:
Damn! I'm trying to remember rye name of that swiss roll. The only time I've ever flown business class, transatlantic, I ordered the veggie asian and got one.
I'll come to me.
I see a letter 'K'...

Swam this morning. Zoomed into town for CP training. Buggers have changed the time without telling me.
Am in an iStore, getting my 'Pod seen to.
Tings an' stuff.
zendevil Posted Jun 9, 2008
Oh dear. It must be the combination of our magnificent minds combining the letters "C" & "K" and imagining tubular edible Oriental objects.
Yikesed on a foodie thread. It wasn't me, i promise; i neither posted nor yikesed!
Probably the reference to Swiss & rolls in the same sentence?

Hidden
Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted Jun 9, 2008
Long post hidden. i haven't a clue why. No strong sweary words that In recall. Nothing at all outrageous. I do hope the over-cautious, over-prurient night mods either reinstate it or give some kind of sensible explanation so that I can edit and re-post. I also hope they get some proper training. Soon.
Although I'd be livid at the idea of having to edit down to what might be considered acceptable in fromt of an eight-year old child being raised by particularly repressed Victorian parents.
Hidden
Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted Jun 9, 2008
Actually...it does say 'Hidden', not 'Temporarily Removed'. I get my mod e-mails at work...but, yup...I shall need an explanation of this one. I am genuinely perplexed.
Would an Italic care to post an explanation, with my full permission, on this thread?

My post has Fish in it.
Mind that censored one? Now I *personally* expect to be able to conduct intelligent conversation in my native language. I've been doing it for years. The beeb dosesn't like that...but I was prepared to meet them halfway. Not good enough, seems! So I've had to insert fish.

Further adventures in bipolar land:
The 'pod was fished. Immediate, no hassle replacement. I was well impressed with Apple's joined-up customer care/ IT/ Etc stuff (iTune recognised a problem and booked me an appointment in the Repair Centre upstairs!). I later used this in a work telecon as an example of Open Systems Business Processes.
After getting my new 'Pod (empty, unfortunately ), looked at some of the docking stations immediately adjacent to the Apple Genius desk. I've been planning to get a new amp for ages...in cat, was planning to look at Richer Sounds later. Wow! What you can get for <£150 these days blew me away. Decided to think about it.
Wandered over to GGOMA and saw this:

Woah!
From there to Borders. I was in search of 'What Is The What' by Dave Eggars (out in p/b v. soon)...and the book I heard discussed on R4 this am about the deaths of noted philosophers. Bacon died of Empiricism. Barthes was hit by a drycleaning van.
Asked for a demo of an Iliad:

*stunningly* good. Put me down for v3.0 or so. When they get so cheap it's embarassing not to.
Moisturised and perfumed in Neal's Yard and l'Occitane. I used to feel embarassed about going in and using all the testers...but that's what they're there for! Neil's Yard even has a ewer and towel for getting excess moisturiser off your hand. (You know...I'm fairly sure that's the first time I've ever used the word 'ewer'.)
Went to a kebab shop and asked for a veggie shish. They were happy to oblige. Top tip - even for carnivores - there is excellent, inexpensive, high-quality food to be had in kebab joints. I just wish there were more felafel around in Glasgow!
CP training on Scotland's sensible, humane, pragmatic, creative interpretation of potentially fascistic English electronic tagging laws. Smart woman doing the training. A lot of good Sociology slipped in there. ('Pro-social modelling'? - Give good role models and the kids will follow.)
Times of training totally fisheded up, so overan my planned work telecon by 30 mins. Joined by cellulite phone and hotel internet. Sorted the project out.
Sent a *very* saucy e-mail to mar
Now it gets interesting. Richer Sounds is just over the road from the hotel where the training was. I went to see if they had any 'Pod docks:
'We've only got two at the moment. This one is £99 - but for sound quality, we're recommending this one...'
Whit! Thirty ****ing quid!:
http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=KENS-SX2000
Apple still sell it for £130.
'Bring in your iPod and try it out'.
'Sure. See you later in the week.'
I picked up their flyer and went to Woolies to buy some notebooks.
'Join our VIP club for free and get it for £19.99.'
I'd have been stupid not to go back, no?
So...he's typing up the product registration:
'Have you ever shopped at Richer Sounds before?'
'Yes. About twenty-five years ago, I used my first paycheck to buy a really good pair of Wharfedale, floor-standing speake...ooh. I've just worked out how I'm financing my eee pc.'
Sat outside The Crystal Palace pub, watching the buses go by, drinking a Pinot Grigio, Wanting to ask folk, 'Guess how much this cost?!!!'
Drove home. Stopped at the Desi frozen food place for Kulfi. Also bought frozen Kashmiri samosas with date chatni, and frozen idlis with sambar and coconut/ chilli chatni. All good shit. No additives, Dirt cheap. This brand:
http://www.shana.tv
(and respect for generating income for Tuvalu) Served them with some chaat I knocked up with rice crispies, a nectarine, tamarind, chillis...
Sophie tried on a bra. I discretely went downstairs while she had it adjusted.
Watched the amazing documentary by Rupert Everett about one of my heroes, Richard Burton (if Sho's watching this - C19th Orientalist/ Explorer, not Welsh actor.) Woah! Eye opening. Especially when...on camera
, a *straight!* Egyptian masseuse offered Everett a choice of 'soft' or 'hard' sex massage All Arabists get intersted in sex...Thesiger, Lawrence, Bell...
http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/V/victorian-passions/richard-burton/
(I didn't twig it was Everett until the end, when he'd shaved. I love his books.)
(I have a theory, btw. Sexual repression is a feature of Capitalism. We had it from about 1800 to 1963, but now we're over it. Nowadays, it's to be found in the emergent Arab capitalist states. But they too will revert to normal. The modern generation of Indians, and most young Pakistanis, are already over it.)
C cleared out her dressing table drawers:
'What's this? 'Iron Man Speed Nuts'?!!!!
Leftover fom a DIY project.
Cue me helpless, face buried in a laundry basket to muffle the guffaws, for about twenty minutes.
Still hurts to think about it.

Ah, Haleem; that nice guy round the corner? Yeah, i suppose one could get a quick fix of protein, but not sure whether the calorie expenditure might outweigh the intake....

It's a distraction from me taking on (legally) the French National Electricity Board (EDF)over various counts of deception & discrimination & overpricing.
