h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

are currently being turned into biology mixed with drama. We have to do a powerpoint on the topic we've just been studying. But we have to pretend that we are enthusiastic members of "The University of The 3rd Age" I have no problem with doing a presentation, I do have a problem pratting around pretending to be something I'm not and doing a presentation. There's a reason why I didn't do drama, I don't like it. Why do teachers have to try and incorporate it into other lessons?

I have this friend, a University Professor in molecular biology. He once told me that he didn't take a PhD student in his group because she admitted that she couldn't talk in front of people!
I was dumbfounded! He tried to explain that one should be able to present one's work in front of the scientific community.
I admit, I still don't get it! And I think I have the right not to - I love biology, I am a scientist and I hate talking in front of people. Still, I have survived in the University wilderness for many (too many? ) years with no huge problems...

Apparently no-one else is doing the silly pretend to be a uni member thing. So we aren't either, my friend I'm doing it with* didn't like the idea anyway so that's all good. Presentation is set for this Friday. So since I've started sixth form I've done 3 or 4 presentations. Almost the same as I did for, year 7 (first year) to year 11 (fifth year)!
