For free. TES has released the first two of their Elder Scrolls free from their website

Guess what I'm busy downloading
Daggerfall & Arena

Arena - good game, I spent a lot of time in at uni playing it!
Daggerfall - good and HUGE game that crashes ALL THE FLIPPIN TIME!
Sorry, even 13yrs later it still annoys me! Just don;t ride your horse in town!
BUT the game play is way good and equipment variety is much better than later games. And you'll soon get annoyed by the 'Halt!' sound the guards make when you do something wrong.
Oh, and if you can find it there is a very neat sword hidden in the sewers right at the start of Arena.

shouldn't take too much.
I've still got the original Daggerfall game I bought way back when (goodness knows where though) and a couple of years back I installed dosbox and ran it through that, worked pretty well. You do have to clock back the speed quite a lot though considering it was designed to run on a 486-66!
In fact, I think I might even still have the motherboard and processor from my 486 box in a drawer somewhere...

well that'd certainly be pushing the envelope of compatibility!
You do know dosbox runs natively in linux, yes?

god it took me a long time to figure out dosbox when i downloadee it - thankfully the wikipedia article was actually quite helpful .
AM now playing ascendancy and colinsation which are two amazing games, though i should download the patch of ascendancy as it really could use a decent ai but oh well
