Okay then here goes.
Out of the house by eight got there for 20 past and at about 9 o'clock we all got dragged inside to have a talk abouts sixth form, only the new people to the school (of which I was one) had to go down to the office and have GCSE results photocopied so they could be put into the system etc. After all the admin rubbish was done we did various bits and pieces throughout the day including an ALIS test which is meant to predict what grades you're going to get. It is supposedly very accurate. Personally I disagree with these things but more on that later. Although we didn't get the results for them back why bother doing it then?
I've also got my timetable finalised and I believe that I am doing all of the subjects that I want to, but there may be more tweaking later.
Overall not a bad day but my main problem with school is that you're not free to learn at your own pace and do what you want and learn how you learn best. You have to learn what is on thee syllabus and if that doesn't interest you at the time hard luck. This is my biggest problem with schools as I dislike this way of working. I much prefer it when i sit down in front of a computer and go and find out the information that interests me at the time. Much like the research I've been doing for my new computer, I've asked here on h2g2 (much to the annoyance of Ictoan and 2legs who I've kept pestering) and I've read reviews and so and learnt about computers as a whole, but if I'd been told to do this I wouldn't have done it so well. Ah well, not going to happen like this. If learning could be done the way I've described above I'd like it a lot more and probably remember more of it because it's actually something I'm interested in.

thats unfortunate, the sciences are like that at school but my classics are more relaxed although memorising language starts to grind after a while.
What are you like dealing with wireless systems? My wireless is the most temperemental thing in the world.

You are right, pingu, that's where most (if not al) school systems fail. I hope you'll persevere, though.

I can readily see how personalizing programs and methods of study to each student could become very cumbersome to the school system. The staff alone would probably need to triple to follow and support students at so many different paces. Resources would also have to be made available for so many different 'paths'. I don't know about your education system, but ours is already very tightly stretched as relates to personnel and resources. What with every third person now being considered some form of a special-needs situation. I do wish you patience and every success though, my friend.

hey, glad it was OK Pingu
Thing you have to remember though is that schools are all about churning out grades. So they go for the volume approach which will miss everyone's ideal somewhat but hopefully not anyone's totally.
It's only 2yrs, jump through the hoops then off to uni - treat it as a means to an end

The blazer has some advantages, e.g moving around school
everyone moves out of your way. I was following my mate to my form room and I thought he was pushing people out of his way. Nope they were moving, must be the blazer or the fact that he's a six foot two 17 stone rugby player

id like to be six two, though i may be in a couple of years. 17 stone would be bad, unless it was all muscle in which case it would simply be inconvenient

Most of its muscle.
Apparently the girls like the blazer, found out its true today. They do call things at you

haha,, good for attracting attention then, check whether it works with or without the blazer.

yeah, but difficult to hide in though
and that school has a big thing in its culture with senority by age. Sixth Formers are nigh unto gods to the rest of the school.
Bumped into your brothers yet?

Had a decent biology lesson today, I've forgot less than I had thought and a few of the people appeared to be completely stupid. But I did OK Got a few bits of homework but nothing urgent as its mostly buying folders

grrr, i always fought against that when i was younger, if nothing else it shouldnt effect me now but it was kind of a one man stand - though i am starting to see the benefits now as the year below me is really annoying. As our ex Upper sixths commented maturity does seem to be dropping, if nothing else we ran around shouting far less inside.
grrrr
