They were certainly tougher - but softer with it, if that makes any sense. Scuse me, I've had a little too much tonight - Mum would not have approved - one Mackeson (for the iron)...and that was it!

Well, Mum's funeral was held yesterday and it went as well as these things can. It was very simple with mostly family and friends who are more or less family there. Although, bless them, 2 of her old next door neighbours made the effort in the bitter cold. My brother made it through the reading very bravely, but the rest of us were complete messes (as indeed I am today), the vicar was brilliant - he'd taken on board everything we'd told him about Mum. I touched her coffin and had a briefv chat with her, while everyone filed out to "Moonlight Serenade". I think the hardest thing I've ever done was walking away and leaving her there.

After, at the get together, we had collages of photos of Mum from when she was a Brownie in the late 20s up until last year and my sister arranged for the "man on a keyboard" from the care home to play background music - my brother in law turned it into a singalong, which seemed fitting - she would have loved it. Well, I'm off to do "stuff" now - keeping busy, that's the key isn't it?
