h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, today at work after breaking down and crying for various reasons, Mark, the assistant manager, sat me down in the office-like area (well, we started talking and then I kind of curled into a ball on the floor...) and just talked to me, and listened to what I had to say, and so on... and, in part of the conversation, he made me agree to call the Kid's Help Line before I next work (Tuesday), even though he won't be there 'cause he's at a different store for a month to help out there, he said he's gonna call me to ask if I did it. So... mmm... I ended up agreeing... so now I'm stuck doing it. I have no idea what I'm gonna say, or anything... but... I'm scared. But it's something I have to do now.

I would rant more, but I reckon I'm gonna go visit my brother and his friend next door... See ya!

They are there to help you.

And, i know its scarey, but it will help enormsly to know someone knows how you feel

The helpline will do what your manager did, and allow you to talk and talk.. do it Danni, it will help clear your mind a bit.

Hmmm... yeah... although I'm not sure if I'm comfortable ranting on the phone to a total stranger... but Mark said I could just call and say "Hi... I'm not really sure why I'm calling" and just listen to them talk so I'm not alone... or something... but he may have changed that rule... not sure... people kept coming in and out (there was a guy fixing the fryer Mark busted) and my mind was going a mile a minute... And what if I rant at them, and tell them lots of stuff, and then decide I need to talk to them again another day, but can't, 'cause like... you never get the same person twice. Like how Mark said if I don't like the person, just hang up and call again to get someone else... Nya, I'm thinking too much... I really should get some sleep and think tomorrow. Too tired for rational thought. *hug* Thanks you guys.

Danni, every effort will be made to give you some sort of continuity if needs be. You just tell them what you want to tell them. You can hang up and call back as often as you need to, they will understand.

I just called them. Would have done it earlier, but have been busy... was going to do it last night, but fell asleep. *blushes* Aaaaaaanyway... The guy's name was Scott and he's there every Monday and Tuesday... and some other days that change around (I'm really just writing that so I have a record if I forget). He was really... nice! But he had that kind of "Mmmm. Yeah. *nods understandingly*" thing about him... where he's all... I dunno... thing-like... ... Rather than someone who just kinda makes me feel like I'm talking to a person, rather than Mr. Soothing 3000, the latest in automatic understanding technology. But yeah, he was nice. We were on the phone for like 75 minutes... I think... (The phone counts up to 60 minutes, and then goes back to 0, so I'm assuming that I didn't spend over 2 hours on the phone, 'cause it really didn't seem like that long.) And he kept asking me questions, and then how I felt about stuff, which I had no idea how to answer... especially when I was talking about stuff that happened YEARS ago, that even if I knew how I felt about it then... I have absolutely no idea how I felt about it now. Yeah, and I started crying in the middle of discussing my dad, a couple of times... but, I tried to kind of hide that I was crying (like, trying to make it so my voice wasn't all... cry-like), although I didn't do it flawlessly, but I'm not sure if he noticed the slight failure in my efforts or not... But, anyway... the point is, it's not as scary as I thought it would be... still scared the f*** out of me... BUT, I did it, I'm alive, and I didn't completely ignore his suggestion of calling back next week perhaps. So... Mmmm, you, the good people of h2g2, can make what you want of my little rant here... Meanwhile, I'm going to have lunch. *runs off to pounce on the chicken mum brought home*
