Susanne - if it ain't broke, break it! Started conversation Oct 6, 2007
So, from today on, I'm living in this town called Malice...err... Siegen. My room is half-ready, the bed is built, the desk also, though a little wobbly, chair dito, and the wardrobe has to wait another week or two - IKEA was sold out ( I never thougth that could happen
).
The internet is (obviously) running, the telephone possibly also.
The difficult thing will be to share the flat with 4 other people, Jens, Lars, Eric and Betty. You're probably going to hear some more about these fellows...and me getting to know them...in due time...
And on monday, my preperation week at Uni beginns. The week after, lectures start.
I'm feeling a little lost right now, but that's perfectly normal, I know

The biggest, mostest and bestest luck to you, sussanne. You're being wonderfully brave and are obviously a strong person. I'm in awe of what you've achieved in just getting as far as you have. The rest is going to be easy!

Well done, you! Moving is so hard, and such a huge pain, and "new starts" are so scary and daunting! Settling in a bit (phone and internet) is a big help, though.
Sharing one's home with other people can be trying- but it can also be quite fun and an opportunity to possibly make new friends.
What's the town you're living in now like? Have you had a chance to explore at all?

I've not really explored the town yet, though I've been here on 4 occasions, in search of a flat. It's still in my home-state or what you might call county (?) North-rhine westphalia. So the difference to home is not so great, compared to Passau, which was totally another world
. Siegen has industrial history, so there are some rather ugly and tumbled-down parts, but there's lots of hills, wood and general "nature" around. I haven't been to the campus here yet, the Uni is a little out of town. I'll have to take the bus to get there everytime. But the flat is close to the city-center, which I though more important. Supermarket is across the street, so I can comfortably do my shopping at five to eight in the evenings
.

And thanks, of course, and again and again for the encouragement, and friendly words, and for being there. I will be here a bit more often now probably, not only because of the internet flat rate , but as a hideaway, if real life becomes too much.

Wow! Being able to do supermarket shopping at a reasonable hour in Germany is a real plus. I guess they're slowly waking up to the concept that not everyone is a Hausfrau.
