Nice long weekend is just over. Tomorrow is day off. Lovely short weeks. I love bank holidays. I don't know who invented them, but thank you very much - I'd like to buy you a pint.
Still ache from snowboarding last Thursday, despite doing nothing all weekend. Pain is now confined to stomach muscles, and only occurs on use. Which is surprisingly often. At school, in Biology, we fed a kind of liquid dye to a plant so that we could watch where it went, through all the veins in the leaves. These muscle aches are like that. I now know where my muscles are, and how often I use them. The stomach muscles get a surprisingly large amount of use, which is not good, since that was the most painful area.
Of course, nice long weekend means no journal written for a while, and more days to put into next entry.
Dropped sister off on Saturday morning to pick up car. Further trauma since the bank affair. The car wasn't taxed, which meant the garage had to tax it, but they needed the cover note for the insurance and she didn't have one yet (sent first class Friday, so quite naturally not received on Saturday morning), managed to 'borrow' insurance certificate from someone else in family, thus ensuring car could be taxed.
Decided to do a bit of DIYing once I'd got rid of sister. Went to B&Q and bought chicken wire. Went home and fence off underneath of bed and bottom of wardrobe. Mulder and Scully are now unable to chew underneath of bed. I am now able to get a good nights sleep. It also provides a great deal of amusement watching them try to figure out how to get back to their favourite place. Unfortunate side effect - they now have more time to devote to stripping walls. Mulder was stripping just after I had painted over previous damage and now has blue lipstick effect. Must think of bad tasting potion to paint over walls.
Watched Osmonds documentary. Expert says hysteria is catching, leading to girly bimbos all screaming, fainting, etc. Proof of this theory can be seen amongst supporters of Sheffield Wednesday. We have a bad start to the season, we're relegated already. I've never seen such evidence of mass panic.
Carbone was dropped to bench at Southampton. Did not like it. Ran home to tell mummy, took his ball with him. Has been fined two weeks wages. May be sacked. Is in BIG trouble. About time. Should have gone a couple of years ago when walked off pitch during match against Derby. Alan Hanson on MOTD was on our side. This has never happened before. Am not sure what to make of it.
Still there is brightness on the footballing horizon. First home reserves match of the season tonight - Aston Villa.
Gran's birthday visit was very dull. Introduced her to Mulder and Scully. She had tea with parents. Kissed her goodbye. She went home. I hope my life's not that dull when I'm in my 80s. I don't see the point. Then again, it's not exactly thrill a minute now and I'm only in my 20s.
Sister has split with bloke 1. It was all very amicable, they spent the afternoon together and had a laugh. She says if he had been like that all along she wouldn't have wanted to split up with him.
She made me listen to message on her mobile from bloke 2, and also one from his friend. I think the liberal 'oh really' way I have been treating knowledge of her exploits has backfired. I am now being subjected to every minute detail of their relationship. I have discovered that I am not as nosey as I always believed - there are somethings I just do not need to know, not about my sister at least.
Apparently bloke 2 wants to 'have a talk' with her when she gets back to Devon. Which is today. Maybe I should go to the match straight from work, thus skillfully avoiding either tears or sordid details. Or both.
Watched lots of daytime TV yesterday, which is generally bad. Didn't get up in time for Sunset Beach, which is so dreadfully bad it is good. Watched Suddenly Susan for the first time since revising for exams in May. Was a tribute episode to the actor David Strickland who plays Todd, who had died. Have just done a search and found out he hanged himself. Do not understand. It does not say why he did it. Why would anyone do that? Very depressing.
Read some more of book - A Game of Thrones. Is excellent. Must try and get copy of second in series before finish first. Unfortunately, I do not think any more than first two exist as yet. Don't you just hate it when they do that? You stay up for days reading a story and then find out you can't get the last installment for six months. What if the author dies before finishing the story? They should publish all books in series close together, so you can read all at once.
Have only managed to get as far as George Michael in alphabetical journey through CD collection. This could be a good thing, as indicates had more to do over bank holiday weekend than sit in room and listen to music. Could be bad thing as possibly spent the time sat in front of TV, watching I Dream of Jeannie and other assorted nonsense. Larry Hagman, by the way, has aged very badly. As have all of the Osmond brothers.
Have re-developed liking for Sugar Puffs. They are giving away free aliens, which are very cool, so will keep eating until have full set. Steer well clear of Chocolate Sugar Puffs though - possibly the only chocolate thing invented that is foul and disgusting.
Must try and get credit card bill paid. Was due on 29, and have still not go around to it. Will be skint once cheque is paid and have to resort to using credit card. Which I suppose is the point.
Must go now. Two hundred application forms to fold and only 45 minutes to do it.
