h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

So I was mostly AWOL from Hootoo from late 2005 until a week or two ago when I was invited to sign up for NuHootoo. I wish I could better account for my absence. I was very depressed for the first 2-3 years I lived here in Orange County (having moved from Minnesota to help my elderly parents). Hootoo, for some reason just made me more homesick. In spite of the fact that I had (and still have) some good friends here. I'm glad some of you are still here. I know I've said that, but it's so true I have to say it again. I really miss those that have left though, and can't help but wonder if they would have stayed if I'd stayed. And of course it breaks my heart to know Terri isn't ever coming back as are a couple other friends.

Then when I did visit, the site there seemed to be no end of strife here with the BBC. I loved the BBC for hosting us for free and with no ads. I really appreciated that. I felt especially blessed that they did this when I wasn't paying the User Fee that residents of the UK(or just Britain - not sure who pays) had to pay. OTOH, I resented the heavy censorship being affiliated with the BBC required. The few times I visited between 2006 and 2009 it was clearly cause for great consternation. It made me sad how much the site had changed as well as seeing people I'd known who were leaving.

So what have I been doing all this time? While I still remember some of it I will try to cover it in some future journals as this entry has gone on long enough.

Thanks for stating that it was the censorship that kept you offsite. I was afraid it might have been something I said.

It was absolutely nothing anyone else said to me. No one was ever anything but nice to me here.
