NaJoPoMo 2011 Day Two Santa Anas
hellboundforjoy Started conversation Nov 2, 2011
Was woken up early by Santa Ana Winds and couldn't sleep afterwards. Here's a little explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ana_winds (no entry devoted to Santa Anas in the guide.)
That entry does not convey how unpleasant they are. This isn't even a particularly bad one. It's not hot, only 73°F, just dry and windy. Sometimes, usually when they occur earlier in the season, it can be in the 90s or 100s, which really suck! The dryness and the allergens it blows in make me feel like I have a bad cold. My nose is dry and runny at the same time. I'm phlemy and coughing and my eyes are watering. I don't feel like making a proper journal entry, so I hope this passes. I feel like taking an anti-histimine and going back to bed, but I don't have any in the house. Oh, and whining, obviously, I feel like whining.

That Wikipedia entry does mention that the Santa Anas are associated with anxiety. I never thought about the relationship, but I realize that there is one for me. I do feel extra anxious during the blowing. I always thought it was just because I was worried that things would blow into the pool (as they do) and our pool guy would be cross about having to pull them out. Also, I worry that my plants will blow over. They don't care for the winds either.
And while I'm whining, I should mention that my glasses broke last week. The right temple piece fell off. They aren't repairable. Fortunately, they are designed in such a way that they can sit on my nose and and my left ear without falling off.

Oh come on, if you can't whine in your own journal, where else would you whine? Whine away!
