I understand to some extent that a major journalistic company has to be very cautious not to give the competition anything to be used against it. But it was a bit restrictive at times. My biggest complaint was always that as the mods were paid staff and not really involved in participating onsite (as far as we know) and a lot of their decisions seemed to be made without taking past history, personal inter-relations or context into consideration.

I am grateful, anyway, that rather than just shutting it down, they were able to make arrangements for it to continue to exist.

yeah, at least they offered it up for sale rather than just dumping it without saying anything.
