This is me trying to track down some skilled, intelligent and imaginitive people. I know you're out there; I've met quite a few of you. But I want to meet more.
It's not just for selfish reasons; I want to make you rich too.
It's true that the area where advances (and money!) are to be made is in the interdisciplinery realm... Ray Kurzweil himself said: "...increasingly important work needs to be interdisciplinary -- to draw upon many different fields together." and: "Increasingly that’s [true] in the entrepreneurial field, where to actually achieve something of value, you have to be able to combine different fields."
So that's what I'm doing. I've already made inroads, towards many different goals:
I've discussed with musicians how we can create software which can produce music which responds to the mood of the listener.
I've discussed with psychologists how to build a 3D sonar map of a room using only a home PC and some spare microphones.
I've discussed with engineers how we can create the world's first immersive virtual reality environment, and I have plans to help create the world's first virtual-immersive movie.
I've discussed with biochemists how we can create nanotech self-assemblers from individual molecules.
And more.
None of these things would be possible if only one person was involved - they require skills from many different fields.
So come on! Stand up and be counted! I want to know who you are, what you do, and what you're good at. You may think your skills aren't impressive, but I'm sure you can shine with the right project... try me!
Please!
And first of all, for me to be able to get the capital to build some of these prototypes... does anyone know someone who would consider designing me a machine? Perhaps an Engineer or a Toolmaker?

I'll gladly join your forces even if only as an ideas man or tea maker. I am creative and have lots of idea but am unskilled in the ICT areas.
HOWEVER, I am musical, literal, creative and a genius so I'm sure I could overcome any boundaries that might come up.

Wish I could put more on my resume.........
I've spent four years training in Theater as both an Actor and a Technician, I'm obsessed with Computer Games and Board Games and Card Games and Video Games and.......Well you get the idea..........
And I'd say I'm creative and intelligent I guess. (I generally try not to compliment myself, for fear I'll get an overlarge ego.....) But I'm also very observant, I know that as a fact.
And I had the same idea about Mood affected music a while ago, I thought it would be cool if you could stick some kind of implant near your ear that plays music loud enough for you to hear, but no one else. And since your body language and endorphin levels change with your emotion, if you can make it detect those and select the music from it's own database based on that.......

Whats the stuff they put in mood rings to make them change colour?
I'm putting the call out for all creative people.
Arisztid Lugosi Posted Apr 2, 2005
good question. i've always wondered that.
and heres a question about the music....would it play slow sad music when you're sad? just to suit your mood? because if i listen to sad music when i'm sad....it just makes me sadder...
is sadder a word? or is it like funner? and i'm supposed to say 'more sad' instead...?

Well I was just thinking if they change colour according to different heats, then theres a change somewhere and so my thought is would they conduct electricity better at different heats?

I tried to find out about the mood rings a few years ago, but I can't remember what I found out... I think you're right, it was just some kind of cheap heat-responsive chemical.
You're right with 'more sad,' Arisz. There's a classification of adjectives where you can't add '-er' on to the end to make it more so, but I can't remember what they're called either.
Gee I've forgotten a lot...
There are many various ways you can work out someone's mood, and even sneaky ways to do it through a computer. It's even possible to predict the future; the first step is to believe you can. Even with a computer!
Off the top of my head, the easiest way of finding out someone's mood using a computer is simply to analyse the mouse clicks; measure the time between clicks, the accuracy of the positioning as they click on an object, etc.
It's amazing what it's possible to know without realising you know, or to know that you know... but there's a huge amount of information it's possible to use, right there at your fingertips. The trick is to sift through it in the right way. And that's part of what my degree does.

Even me. You're good at knowing or at least suspecting my various differnt moods and personalities that go with each one.
And then being concerned about them as well.

Still no idea.
Easy enough to research, though!
I'd be interested to know if all of these chemicals have to be a thin film for these properties to manifest, or whether thicker collections can still be used.
Has anyone seen these crystal paperweights? http://crowncrystal.en.alibaba.com/group/0.html
I know that the individual bubbles inside the 3D ones are created with two intersecting lasers; but I'm thinking that if the same technique can be applied to some kind of liquid or plasma substance, so the bubbles only last momentarily, then the whole array can be used as a sort of 3D viewing medium. Any thoughts?
