Jerms - a Brief flicker and then gone again.

Golly I am hungry.

I'm currently waiting for my code to smiley - bleepsmiley - grr #$&*@$% Y RUN PROPERLY!

I'm up to the last part, of the last piece of assesment, of the last paper, of the last semester, of...well third year admittedly not the last year, but still WHY WON'T IT WORK! smiley - grr I want to go on holiday!

...well when I say holiday I of course mean study break *ahem*. Not that I'll be studying much because I'd rather be working and saving up lots of money so I can buy lots of yummy food.

Deelishus weenie!

Woo! 4662, the last runtime value I was waiting for. Yay it worked! I wonder why it kept freezing? I hope it doesn't do that when the lecturor looks at my program. smiley - shrug
Don't care now it's done.

mmmpizza.

Damn I have a visitor. I'll talk to you all again soon.

smiley - wah The guy who sat down at the computer next to me and starting talking as if I cared about the bugs in his code, and reading my journal over my shoulder even though I have no idea who he is... has much better code than me! smiley - wah

smiley - grr Stupid not properly optimising my code properly.

The problem our code is supposed to solve is what's known as an NP-complete problem. In other words the larger it gets the exponentially harder it gets to prove that there /is/ a solution, let alone trying to find /the best/ solution.
I've spent most of my time writing code which returns the best solution it can find.
This guy hasn't even got to that part of it yet; all his does is removes all solutions which can't possibly be correct.
For small problem sizes it finds the best solution almost instantly, or can tell that there isn't one.
smiley - headhurts Why didn't I think of that?! Mine just has a best guess. smiley - wah

And I've just submitted mine so there's no way I can add anything and then resubmit it again. smiley - sadface

smiley - brave Still, it's actually submitted now, whereas otherguy has to come back tomorrow to finish it. smiley - nahnah

I still want pizza.

And I'm feeling very petulant tonight. Probably has something to do with sitting in front of this darn computer for *thinks* ... 11 and a half hours.
I was planning to go buy food at about 4. Oops.

I wish my sleeping pills were working, too.

...

Woo my receipt arrived! I'm outta here! smiley - run

Hugs to all!

Dude, forgive me.
It was late, I was having issues thinking, let alone thinking in English.
If it comes to that I'm having even more trouble thinking now.

That guy was weird. He just sort of turned up and assumed I'd give a rat's a$$ about him.

Oh by the way I sent you the CD yesterday. The helpful brochure-y thing said to expect it to take three to five weeks to arrive, but the lady behind the counter said one. So expect the movie to arrive anywhere between five minutes from now, and half a millennium next tuesday. smiley - ok
