The Tao of Pooh

Pooh wasn't the scholar in the book. He was just Pooh. Hoff was the scholar using Pooh as a model to explain Taoism to a modern audience. He never said Pooh was Taoist, merely that because he was a Bear of Little Brain he represented (or perhaps reflected is better) the idea of the uncarved block and so on from there. Hoff can get a bit preachy at times but he knew his sources well I thought...both Toaist and A.A. Milne.

Hoff's book also brought the original Pooh books some mention again, which I definitely like better than the Disney version. Especially the treatment of Tigger...grrrr Disney. And Eyore, the original Marvin, Disney kinda ruined him too.

smiley - okAbsolutely agree with you on that!

I grew up on the old Hebrew translation, which is in pretty archaic -totally the wrong register - but it has some bits that I will always like better than the original English.
