Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

Just came across a company trading under this name in Hereford.

Guess what they do.
They're an educational training provider smiley - steam
There is obviously no hope remaining for this country smiley - wah

Could you explain a bit more what they do ? Do they teach (language) ? Should it be Resolve ,or is this an abbreviation ? There are some new vegetarian products here, when I see their names, it makes me cringe, and i must admit that I haven't yet ordered any of them ( yes, I'm a snob when language is concerned). Recently, there was a letter from the producers, explaining their horrible spelling - they say, that they can't get a copyright for the product name when they write it correctly, because the words already exist, so they spell it wrong, but in a way that you immediately know what is meant smiley - grr

I hate txtspeech
Just saw their name in the directory and it annoyed me so I'm not sure exactly what educational training they provide. Hopefully not training English teachers smiley - biggrin

I just had a quick google and 'Rezolv' appear to be a consultancy group which "enables schools, local authorities and other agencies to create value by identifying and reconfiguring around their core purpose and value - placing the child at the centre"

smiley - huh

In other words, delusional LEAs pay Rezolv to come in and appraise their standards and practices and then give them tips on how to redescribe them with as much meaningless management-speak as possible.

Imho, management-speak is a far greater threat to civilisation than txtspk.

A friend of mine recently observed that, because teachers must at all costs avoid damaging children's self-image, education is no longer education: it's therapy. Resolv sounds like just the sort of therapy he meant.

I always used to get irritated by that sign in Safeway that said, "nine items or less." smiley - steam I developed a real thing about it and, when they finally changed the "less" to a "fewer", I was disproportionately overjoyed.

>>Resolv sounds like just the sort of therapy he meant.<<

Very much the impression I got from just having read a description of their contribution to one LEA's conference (well, I say 'read': I got halfway through the first paragraph and my eyes went blurry and my head started hurting).

Or in the case of most academic conferences, the overwhelming urge to stand up in the middle of someone presenting a paper and shout "What ARE you talking about?" smiley - smiley

Once read a three page report on "Children at Risk"; a summary for parents...

and after all the discussion of outcomes and parameters and value-adding, the report did relate what the risk was

I think educators are competing with the IT industry at "we have the most technospeak"smiley - biggrin
