No rush on the recipe, I won't be moving out for another month or so anyway smiley - laugh

But I suppose I shoulda guessed it would happen...office buildings around this area are pretty much heavily secure...but I didn't stop to think that their lifts would be the same smiley - laugh

Snickerdoodle Cookies

Cookie:
3 ¾ cups all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
¼ cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Topping:
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method:
-Preset oven to 375 degrees
-Grease cookie sheet
-Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar, and ½ teaspoon of salt
- In a different bowl, beat butter for approx. 30 seconds
-Add 2 cups of sugar to the beaten butter, and then stir till fluffy (I don’t know what that is… just stir it till it looks completely mixed)
-Add eggs and vanilla and stir well
-Now add the dry ingredients to the wet, beaten ingredients and stir well until they are fully combined
-Now make the topping. Stir together the 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tea spoon of ground cinnamon until they are well blended.
-Roll dough into round 1 inch balls.
-Roll each ball in the topping until completely covered, or however much you want.
-Place each ball 2 inches apart
-Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a drinking glass. This is the fun part…. If you want to have designs on your cookie take a fork and squish them using that instead. If you only squish it one way with the fork it will have stripes, and if you squish it in 2 different directions you can make a crisscross pattern, ect.
-Place cookies in the preheated oven (375 degrees) for about 8 minutes, or until golden brown. If you like your cookies squishy don’t let them get too brown
Have fun!!!

it may be becaue we are in different parts of the world... i gave this to someone in australia and they didnt know what they were either.
did you mean laughing or snickering??
they're really good... i managed to turn itinto a cake once... it was actualy really good. smiley - smiley

I'm another aussie who hasn't heard of them, but the name's hilarious.

Tanzen, you're learning auslan? Awesome. I really wanna do that. I can do the sign language alphabet and in primary school I was taught 2 songs. I can also ask if someone wants tea, coffee, milk or suger. smiley - biggrin

The funny thing is that the place we're learning it is just around the corner from where I work, and when we got there two of the girls who work at the place I go to lunch where there as well smiley - smiley When they were asked why they cam along, they said because they got a lot of deaf people in (obviously because the vic deaf society is nearby) and they wanted to be able to ask people how they wanted their coffee smiley - ok

We've only had one lesson so far, so I can do the alphabet, basic "hi how are you?" stuff...I think as of next week it gets trickier. And because the teacher is deaf it's going to be more of a challenge.

Arisztid, yeah, it's the same *kind* of thing, but I think all countries have different sign, even if they all speak the same language...for example, Australia, England, USA and Canada would probably all have different sign even though they all speak English..

Apparently there is an international sign but it only gets used at huge conferences and gatherings, like the deaf olympics...

thanks for explaining it all for me. wait, hold on... there are deaf olymipcs!!??

These are just things I found out a little clearer on Monday...yeah, I hadn't heard of the deaf olympics either, but apparently they're down here in Melbourne in January next year!

Post 133

Arisztid Lugosi

wow, thats interesing. i didnt know there were def olympics. i wonder what others there are. there one for those who are physically handicapped isnt there? its not really fair that its not publiciesed like the regular olympics.....

So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

Post 134

tanzen

Yeah, the paraolympics (I think I spelt that wrong smiley - erm) is always held right after the olympics in the same country as the "normal" olympics...they're for people who couldn't physically compete with olympic athletes due to mental or physical disabilities. The deaf olympics is seperate again because they are "able bodied", but sports cater for the fact that they can't hear...

yeah. i use alabaster too. right now i'm trying to use goo but the layout isnt as good. and its harder and more time consuming. but i like the way it looks much better than in alabaster. oh well, i guess its back to alabaster...

Post 138

I always thought alabaster made more sense...but that's possibly because I'm easily distracted, and bright colourful things make me forget what I'm supposed to be doing smiley - laugh
