Scarlet and Gold

We went to the ball in our posh frocks, and got prizes. The Scarlet and Gold awards were given out last week, and the RGU:Singers got three awards; one for the founder member who did the setting up and finding choirmasters for us, one for the person who does all the organising, and one for the group as a whole, for "Best New Society". There were crystal plaques and silver cups on our table, we couldn't quite believe it.
We'd been asked to do a couple of songs at the beginning of the ceremony, while people were coming in, sitting down and getting drinks. Then when we got the award we all had to go up on the stage to receive it, so we did another piece then - off the cuff, no chance to rehearse for it, no words or music - a bit nerve racking. It all seemed to go down well though, here's hoping we get some new members out of this.
