One of the joys of working at a College is that you get to take advantage of the courses they run. I've just taken them up on the offer and am doing my HND in Business & Management.
First semester was OK, just two units, European Business, Business Strategy.
Second semester and it's started getting more difficult. Human Resources, Small Business Management, Management Accounts, Management Information Systems. Aghhh. Assignments are being handed out left, right and centre and deadlines seem to be very tight for completion. At least I'm in with a good class all looking out for each other.
Let's see how it goes..

Wow I am impressed you really have a thirst for learning!and there was me feeling quite pleased about starting my ECDL.You are single handedly a one woman learning machinehow do you do it and what is your secret?do tell
could do with a few tips
I shall take inspiration from you.By the way I do think you are brave with the piercings.I had my ears done and they went all septic despite all the after care so that is all I have ever pierced.I do love earrings(in fact all shiny sparkly things)though.

Thirst for learning, never thought of it that way before.. It's taken me this long to get this entry written because I'm finishing an assignment then needs to be in first thing tomorrow (Monday). I had my first accounting exam last week and found it really tough getting my head around the ideas, but I do love it. How I do it is "with a great deal of support and encouragement from my other half"! I can't loan him out just at the moment, he's being fully utilised with this course.
As for the piercings, they just started gradually and I got more adventurous over time. First one was a "partnership thing" just for fun, when he and I first got together. Every once in a while we'd do another one (or two, depending on the area) and now I've drawn the line, I can't think of anywhere else I'm prepared to go. I don't like lots of visible piercings so mine are almost all hidden.
All mine were done with a surgical-style needle and the ring fed through the cover after. I don't hold with the theory of having metalwork fired into me and tearing a hole for itself, as is done in most shops. Most of my rings are stainless steel, so silvery coloured, but some of them have coloured stones set into them. In my navel ring the ball is a garnet. Some of my nose studs are little diamond-like stones. Shiney! Earrings is the toughest choice of the morning and I usually try to style my nose ring to them, once that's done, the rest is fairly easy.

Does your other half make tea too?He sounds wonderful shame about not hiring him out you could have made a fortune!Good luck with the assignment that is due today, although I am sure you don't need it.My boyfriend has a great sense of humour,is kind ,caring but sadly lacking in tea making skills when I am studying
Still I shouldn't mock him it is a wonder that I haven't driven him insane by now poor guy.
Earrings can be a tough choice especially in the morning when running late, that is the time I drop them and one always rolls under the dressing table
Well I hope your day goes well, the sun is shining here may it shine on you too.

Hi wildamethyst
Been a whie off-line, remember that assignment? I handed it in and was given a chance to improve it, so spent extra time doing that. Final hand-in and got it back with the final marks. 68%, dead chuffed with that. Now I've got the next couple of subjects to do, I can start writing them up as I go, they're lots of little bits combined.
Sun was great this morning, after the rain kept me awake most of last night.
My other half doesn't make tea, no. I make myself a glass of squash or pop and settle down with my computer. Squash doesn't go cold like tea.

Well done with the assignmentIt is great when you work hard on something and get a good result.I have a lot of revision to catch up on tomorrow but I quite like it if the truth be known, always have been a book worm.Nothing like a good murder mystery to keep me awake at night. I always say I will just finish this chapter and then put the lamp off, then I end up reading three
The rain has returned here tonight and there is a squally wind,it sounds really wild.I hope we get some sun again tomorrow and it lasts the whole weekend
Have you read any good books lately apart from course books?

Course books - one good thing about this course is that it's all tutorial and recommended reading, no books at all. It does, however, mean that I've got to do more research to find the background info.
Meanwhile, good books? I've just finished one called "Katherine", by Anya Seaton. Historical drama, sort of biography. She lived 1350-1400 and through a couple of marriages to royalty types, ended up being the direct source of most of the present day royal families of Europe. It's fascinating and I'd recommend it highly. It is one of those "just one more chapter" types. I'm just trying to line up the next one, possibly Bill Bryson, an American writer who does articles abouth the States from in insider's point of view.
What about you, what are you reading at the moment?

Hi Yvonne sounded like a good book will put that on my' to read 'list.
Well apart from course books I have just started a new novel called'Autographs In The Rain' by Quintin jardine another murder mystery sleuth.Think it helps me release pent up frustrations from studying

Had an MIS presentation last week so was getting slides ready in Powerpoint. Seemed to go ok and we'll find out about the results at the end of the semester. That bit's out of the way, all I have to do now is write the report from which it was allegedly one chapter.
I do most of my study writing in the evening which also leaves the day free for stuff that needs daylight like hanging out washing and mowing the lawn. We're in an ongoing dispute with the Council about waste bags, so that has to be dealth with during daylight hours too.
I've found that if I look busy enough I can get away with writing assignment reports during the day at my desk. As long as there's nothing outstanding that someone's screaming for, I get left alone.
The one I'm really dreading is Accounting 2. The material covered since A1 has got really complex. Fun but complex; I can't remember all that stuff without my crib sheets.

You sound like you have been really busy ,glad everything went
Multi tasking is something you quickly become adept at when you have far too much to do and not enough time to do it in!
I have been revising hard this week and the weather has been so lovely that I found it a bit harder to concentrate, but the thought of my exam made me persevere.
Accounting 2 sounds a bit daunting but don't panic I am sure that you will tackle it and probably enjoy the challenge.
Hope you can enjoy your weekend and until the next time

Hi there
Handed in that last MIS Assignment and will get the marks next week, now we've been given MIS2. For this one I'm gonna need ALL my software skill, databases, spreadsheets, word documents, mailmerge, data analysis, report writing, ARGHHHH. This one I can't work at during the day, it's going to be quite intense, I won't be able to dip in and out of it. Wish me luck.
We're busy trying to get the lawn sorted at the moment, we're re-seeding it and going to have to water it every day if it doesn't rain.
See you around when I do.
