Mrs Zen

I like fireworks.

Not insanely; I missed the ones at the end of the Festival, for example, but I do enjoy them when I get the chance. The Hogmanay Fireworks above Edinburgh Castle are proverbially impressive; though what surprised me about them wasn't the noise (Whhhheeeeeeeeeee BANG) or the display (mainly bursting chrysanthemums if I recall rightly) so much as the feeling of heat on our faces.

Anyhoo, I decided a while ago that of all the things that can be done with me after I die http://www.efbox.co.uk/os-cremated-remains.html (being moved out of the way of a bypass http://www.planetizen.com/node/36344 , being shoved on display in a museum, having my thigh-bone measured on tv, being chopped up by medical students, being turned into jewellery) the one that appeals to me the most is being turned into fireworks.

Whhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! (As I said earlier,) BANG!!!!!!!

As long as you're sent of as part of a professional display. I just really really really don't see the need for giving access to explosives and incendiary devices to just anyone who wants to buy them. It's like... oh I don't know.. giving Vogons access to poetry.

totally agree there, Winnoch.
I really hate, aside of anything else, the mess all over our street on 1st January.

Hunter Thompson had his ashes shot across his property in Colorado from the top of a tower. Huge fireworks show as well. Johnny Depp organized it.

the Deppster was talking about that on Graham Norton last night. He said that Hunter S Thompson reckoned that he (the Deppster) would be the only person crazy enough to manage to do it.

They were talking about funerary fireworks on the radio this morning. S now being fairly enthusiastic about becoming a bouquet shell when he goes. I like the idea of the one of us surviving saving the other's ashes until we can both be tucked into a firework and scattered across the sky together.

Macabre and soppy in one. I like it.

You want macabre and soppy Ag? http://www.efbox.co.uk/os-huggable.htm

I am sure that any company that will pack human ashes into fireworks won't miss the chance to charge for a display, as well, peeps.

Oh, Ben. Oh, good Lord. My eyes.

And this sentence: "Please note that the teddy bear is made for smaller remains, whereas a pillow design is used for larger remains." - had me in deeply inappropriate fits of giggles for minutes on end.

And there's me thinking - burn me, bury me, plant a tree on top of me

I love fireworks, me.

So much so, that when the amateur-players group that I spent a lot of time around had an annual party, I was the fire provider!

I've seen (on television) Olympic displays, and coverage throughout the world on special occasions, but nothing, nothing, nothing, prepared me for Epcot in Disney-world.

£50-grand's-worth, let off, every-single-night, on water, in floating-globes, on fire and in every possible-way imaginable, to sound, light, music and uproar.

It'll never be beaten. Trust me.

Occasionally, the Yanks can show us Brits a thing. smiley - smiley

I suppose that the only thing I can add Ben, is End with a Bang?

That cuddly urn thing was ... odd. Like the fireworks thing, though. Or, indeed, the plant a tree on top of me.
