h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Having written "1999" in the 'year' slot once already this week, I'm being extra careful now...! Bubster the indubitable, once again, pointed this out.

Another jam was had last night at our place, although this one involved more players and instruments, including drums and bass, and was much more heavioly jazz-influenced, if not to say jazz-driven, due to the predilections of the drummer and the bass player. It was playing of good standard, however, and all the improvising actually began to sound good in places. It was nice to sit down to eat dinner, at a table, while a band played decent music for me!

Following the jam, the musos who were left behind (the others had to move on), and me and my flatmate's girlfriend, lay out on the front lawn under a clear night sky in warm conditions, watching the stars and shooting the shit. I fell asleep on the lawn for a while, which made waking up a bit odd. I must have got to bed in reasonable shape, however, because I awoke this morning at half past five without the impulse of an alarm, which was fortunate, as I had forgotten to set the clock.

The weather today reflects the way it was last night. I even managed to hang out, after re-rinsing, the clothes I had originally washed on Sunday, before jumping on the bus and getting to the closest shopping mall to work in time to have a good cup of coffee before getting in to work itself. Work is proving to be much better than I thought it would be.

The only palls on the week so far have been that I was not paid for my work last week - which was my own fault: I didn't get my claim in early enough - and that I now have conflicting invitations for Saturday. Thankfully, however, I have saved enough money to survive until next week, and I know which of the Saturday gatherings I would rather attend.

All that would make the week better is a little time to ride my bike.
