Just my luck....
I stopped on the way home from work this morning to go to the aid of a young lad who had gone onto one of the roundabouts in town "A tad too fast" I think is what he said. Looking at the damage to his car - the OSF wheel tucked neatly under the wing was a bit of a give-away as to the understatement he'd made.
We tried to move the vehicle from it's resting place - half way across the exit from the roundabout, but of course were unable. As I turned to go back to my car, I spotted a chunk of brake disc on the road. Thinking that the pointy end might easily go into a tyre if driven over, I bent down to pick it up, only to find - from the searing pain shooting up my arm, that the thing was still stupidly hot.
I've now got a lovely set of burns on my thumb, index and middle fingers.
I could have just driven past - like all the other miserable sods....

So it's plectrum style only for a few gigs? Get better soon!
In hindsight, perhaps Pan should've licked your fingers before you picked it up?
I have it on good authority that chefs check the temperature of cooking oil by sticking a licked finger into the pot!
(I found it useful before working on a car/bike, to first rub some handcleaner onto my hands and arms - it makes them MUCH easier to get clean after working...)

No good deed goes unpunished - that's one of the Ferengi rules of aquisition.... well it is according to the entry I read yesterday.
I simply didn't even contemplate that it was hot, otherwise I'd have just kicked it. I suppose the blue hue should have been a clue (I know, I'm a poet and I didn't know it). We've got a rehersal tonight and I've had to learn a whole batch of new songs, I was thinking about cancelling, but I think I'll be all right. I was planning on playing most of the day, but I'll break the blisters if I do much more now, so I'll concentrate on creating a couple of new patches on my foot pedal. Minimal playing but still quite necessary.
I've got to get a good old clanky Rickenbacker sound with a bit of overdrive for a couple of the new songs. I think there's a pre programmed patch called "Geddy" which should be a good starting point!

My (now married) eldest son's got the bass guitar and amp now that the ol'man has hung up his guitarstrap. I miss the gigs...I used to catch some nice bouncy eye-candy now and then...
I don't miss the bickering, though!

I just met a fellow who wants to come over and jam. YAY~!
I have been parting with some of the things I no longer use. I sold my first key board as well as my alto sax. Time to put away childish things.
And get cash for some big-boy/girl-toys!
Poor Bassers ... why didn't *I* think of licking his fingers before hand.
So to speak.

I can't put my fingers in hot water - they'll hurt....
And I'm NOT having a cold shower for anyone
It'll make me go all small and shrivelled

I was thinking.... I wouldn't have to put my injured hand IN the hot water, I could let it rest on the side of the tub, while I lie back and enjoy the attention....
That doesn't sound like such a bad idea after all - unbucles belt - unbuttons shirt....

I changed a wheel for a damsel in distress on the way into work a week or so after - I sort of wondered, as I lay on the floor grunting and heavy breathing from the effort.... Would I find a piece of brake disc embedded in the bottom of the tyre.... It was only a few hundred yards up the road from the first incident. As it happened, there was a new shiny screy embedded in it, so that blew my theory out of the water.
