I'm a long way from home and today my daughter told me that she has had a miscarriage. Everyone in the family and friends knew she was pregnant and had started talking about the birth and making plans, even though it was very early in the pregnancy.
I'm just feeling a bit sad and lonely at the moment. I can't give her a hug but I have sent her a message telling her I love her, but I feel a bit useless.

I'm so very sorry to hear this, Vestie.
Don't feel useless, your daughter knows you love her and will be thinking of her right now

I'm really sorry to hear this, VB. I can only send my very best wishes.
Miscarriage is all too common, of course, and most couples that suffer it go on to have happy healthy families in the future.

Oh bugger, so sorry to hear that
You might not be able to give her a hug but you're still there for her which is the most important thing

Very sorry to hear that, vestie.
I'm with Icy - sad as it is just now, it doesn't mean it will happen again.

I think it's being so far away and not knowing how she is taking it which troubles me. I know there may be a next time. It's the feeling of helplessness that is the hardest part. Also being away at a time when families would pull together.

Must be so hard being away while that's happening.
Chat to her as much as you can to see how she's doing over the next few weeks.

All is much better. I've had a chance to speak to her online and she has taken it very well. I'm much happier knowing that she's OK.

Thaks Lil. My nephew in the RAF (who has had several overseas postings away from his wife and family) told me that the smaller things are often the hardest to deal with when you are away.
