Off to Canada

Two weeks to go before we're off to Canada.
Mrs Vesty and boy vesty are getting excited. I've booked flights, hotels, insurance and hotels over the internet. I booked the hire car too. Now there's a story. I thought I'd found a good deal and decided to have one last look before committing. I'm glad I did. We were going to get a mid range car for about GBP330 when I came across another site offering a super looking sporty 5 seater for less money. So I'm bound for environmental hell for flying to Canada and then driving a 3.8 litre monster when I get there. I tell myself that it's only for two weeks and I'll be a good boy when I come back.

In case you want to know the itinerary...

14 July drive to Gatwick airport fly to Canada
Arrive in JC Munro airport, Hamilton. Drive to Niagara for a couple of days.
Head to Toronto to see relatives
Driving along St Laurence river picking up Montreal and Ottowa on the way to Quebec.
3 Days in Quebec and head back
Stop over in Kinston
Last 3 days in Toronto seeing relatives again
27 July get flight
28 July arrive back in Gatwick

Thaks for the good wishes.
Kinston should have said Kingston by the way. It's funny going to a place that has place names of the area around where we live in England. Uxbridge and Kingston for example. And one of the places wew are staying in is called Scarborough, but it's not by the sea.

Is that Kingston, Ontario? I've heard about it. What's special there?

Yes, it is in Ontario. It's just on the way back to Toronto from Quebec without going too far off the route! I'll tell you if there's anything special there when I've been.

From what I've heard, I don't think there's anything special there. smiley - smiley
It's still quite a distance to Toronto from there, isn't it?

Woohoo! I've just found out that- by accident - we will be in Montreal at the time of the comedy festival and will be back in Toronto for their comedy festival too. I like to laugh until the tears run down my legs!

Neither, I think it was Agfa.

Fuji sounds Japanese to me, but Agfa sounds Oriental. smiley - winkeye

Y'know it's amazing what an education can do.
Have you come across backslang (also known as Pig Latin)?
You take off the beginning of a word and put it to the end and then at "ay". So vest becomes Estvay. B'el become Elbay. Hootoo becomes Ootoohay.

Agfa is almost pig latin for fag! Fag is English slang for cigarette (among other things) and July 1 was the day when England went smoke free with no smoking in any work place or public building. Topical or what?

It is, albeit accidentally. There's a heated debate about this going on in a friend's journal. I only smiley - lurk there and duck. smiley - biggrin

We-ell. In ordinary latin you conjugate verbs and in duck latin you conflagrate with herbs. It's quite tricky, really. Then there's the verb To Love - amo amas amat, in duck latin it's aduck adrake acat.

Speakers of duck latin think it's a hoot but they stay indoors during the hunting season. The holy grail of duck latin speakers is the Golden Duck which has been stolen by cricketers who often make a big fuss when a player is "out for a golden duck". Which means that they can't wait to leave the pitch and speak duck latin - which is much more interesting that cricket.

I suppose I could do an entry on this but I can't be bothered.
