You know you've been driving too long when...

...you feel like having an intentional head-on with the approaching semi.
I drove over 600km today, and ended up in the same place as I started! It's my new personal best
That's about 370 miles, for those who haven't caught up with the metric system yet

What, only 600? That's pretty piddly
Somehow I had this feeling that this would be you, even before I saw the F number

Was it at least your brother, or other person you don't mind spending 7-8 hours in the car with?

don't be silly!!!
No, I drove dad to work (at 6:30am ), drove to mum's place to pick her up, drove her to her destination of choice
(she was very well behaved, too! When I turned the radio up she stopped talking, she didn't try to play with all the controls like she normally does, and she only complained twice about how dad's car smelt! ), drove to bendigo to visit my house and see a lecturer (who wasn't even there, nor were either of her possible substitutes ), went to see another lecturer who also wasn't there, went and picked up my pack , drove back to melbourne and (this is the best bit) GOT MY DEHYDRATOR!!!!

Hey, it could've happened
I like that, describing your mother as 'well behaved' I mean, what're the odds of *that*?
Why didn't you email them first to make sure they'd be there?
Ooo, pack and dehydrator! I gather from the excitement that it's actually a good dehydrater then? And, most importantly, is it a funky blue pack?

Well, I was *told* they'd all be back on the 6th! I can call them when they do get back, the main thing was the pack (which has been on layby since november ) - to get over to bendigo added an extra 100km to the trip, which made much more sense than going home and driving 4 hours return to bendigo anther day.
It's exactly the sort of dehydrator I wanted, and I got it cheaper than at Myer, and with a tray thing, which is excellent!
It *is* a funky blue pack! Much better than yours though
http://www.wildequipment.com.au/backpacks_spnriver.html <- try not to drool on it

Oh please, you've been at uni long enough to know that you never believe what they tell you
Oh, super, always need a tray thing
What!?!? You mean I've been sold an inferior product??
Ah, yes, I merember you showing me that And why can't I drool on it? I thought it was supposed to be immersible and all that?
You know you've been driving too long when...
cafram - in the states. Posted Jan 6, 2003
Yes yes, it's immersible, but I just don't want anyone but me drooling on it!
Look how big it is! *87* Litres!! That's an extra 17 on yours! And it weighs *half* as much. This is the ultimate pack!
You know you've been driving too long when...
King Cthulhu of Balwyniti Posted Jan 6, 2003
Fair enough, I don't really want to mix my drool with yours either
Does my pack weigh 5 kilos does it?
And yes yes, it's very nice

If'n you say so I don't think I've got 15Kg worth of stuff to put in it anyway, so I shouldn't have to worry about baggage limits I just have to make sure I get all the straps nicely tucked away
You know you've been driving too long when...
cafram - in the states. Posted Jan 6, 2003
They let you go about 5kg's over anyway...useful on the way back. Domestic flights usually have a higher baggage limit than international.

Well, at the time I'd been vomiting for the past 36 hours, had just got off an 11-hour flight, and hadn't showered in a week, and I still managed to talk my way in with 9 times the legal limit of alcohol

Must be your huge... tracts of land!
I'm really really sorry, but I can't stop Monty Python coming into my head... next thing you know it'll be Blackadder and I'll be telling you not to walk to London when you can make a fortune staying here and lying on your back
