I've been sitting with the "Add a journal entry" page open for half an hour now. I have no idea what to say here; I'd always assumed John Peel was immortal.
Everything I want to say sounds horribly clichéd, but he really was a broadcasting legend and there genuinely will never be another.
My heart goes out to The Pig and the rest of John's family. As a mark of respect, I'm now off to listen to some Japanese techno at the wrong speed.
Thank you John.

It's another hero gone. When DNA died I was in shock. When Charles Shultz died I had to go home from work. Today wasn't much better.
- rapidly running out of heroes
Thank you John.

I don't know about anyone else but it struck me most as I pulled the bed covers over myself last night.
Thank you John.

Peel Acres is located in a village only about 15 miles from where I live, so our local news last night was just full of tributes - mostly from local residents who just wanted to say what a thoroughly nice bloke he was.
Me, I just went home and played "Teenage Kicks" very loudly.
Thank you John.

It will hit me most on saturday morning at 9am. I'll have my and cereal and will miss his warm, witty conversation.
There is a typo in your entry - para 5 of the DJ's Culture section has 'Peal'. Ooops.
Thank you John.

Sad day. I listened to Andy Kershaw's comments. Sounds like he'd not been well for a bit and the late nights weren't helping.
Thank you John.
Demon Drawer Posted Oct 27, 2004
EV I tell you one thing Old John probably has heard 'Dark Side of the Moon'.
Thank you John.
Vestboy Posted Oct 27, 2004
He most certainly did - he introduced The Pink Floyd to us mere mortals.
Thank you John.

And Peely would be totally disgusted with you too for not having heard it before
Did anyone else listen to Steve Lamacq on Sir John's spot last night by the way?
Thank you John.

I'm looking out for the Beeb re-releasing a lot of Peel Sessions either as complete units or as a compliation.
Thank you John.

Hopefully they'll repeat some of the shows that made up BBC2's Peel Night on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
