Sorry, I was gone for a minute there. Well alright, two weeks roughly.

Somehow, I managed to get my email address into the h2g2 database twice, so I couldn't get back in as beeline. Jim's fixed it up now, though, so it's nice to be back again.

Actually, I was very worried and almost called the police, so I'm glad you're back.

I used to do my lines by taping ten biros together. It works too ...

Okay, we've just discovered a UK thing. What is "doing your lines"? Because doing a line here in the states is something else entirely.

Krissy it doesn't have anything to do with drugs! From the context, I suspect it's being required to write something as punishment a la Bart Simpson in the start of every episode.

I had a particularly sadistic teacher who made us copy entire pages from the dictionary so we could get away with using Peta's method.

Maybe that's why I became a writer?

We had a particularly nasty one at school - get the front page of The Times newspaper and fill in all the looped letters (a, b, d, e, g, o, p, and q) with ink. Now that's what I call a stupid punishment! I mean, they had to check it and everything... duh!

Some of the best punishments (or rather the most constructive) required us to write a 6-page essay on why what we'd done was bad/stupid/thoughtless. Made you think, at least, and you got a good chance to practise writing, and you had to structure it properly or else you'd never be able to fill six sides...

In fact, that's probably why I became a writer as well! LOL
