h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It's been almost a year since I wrote something in this journal!!
This entry is prompted by the return of all my old entries - and it's good to read them again
I said right from the start that I wouldn't write about my day-to-day life but something MUST have happened in the last x months
Trouble is that when I do visit h2g2 I take so much time in the various threads that I don't really have time to do this ....

I applied for a new (full time) job this week - fingers crossed that I get it - it's with an organisation that I really feel committed to - though I must admit that I'd rather work with admin than accounts - but if I can help this organisation in any way I'll be really tickled - and to be honest I can do accounts really easily. But I do prefer the variety of admin .... I'll see what happens

So have you heard back about the job yet? Jobs are great when they're something you'd do without pay, although the pay *is* nice!

Thanks for that No, I didn't get the job - but after looking at it (without the rose-coloured glasses) I don't really think that it would have suited me - but in the meantime I am working with the organisation on a casual basis (in a different department) and am quite enjoying it while it lasts - I am a bit of a fatalist - I believe that if I am meant to get a permanent position there, it will happen - if not, well, I haven't lost anything. I'll just wait and see ....

At least it made me get my resume together - first time I've had to do that - I've always just "fallen into" my jobs - so something good has come of it all

I like casual work - it means there's always a bit of variety and you're always learning the new systems/people - keeps things interesting! Yeah, if you're meant to get a job there, then it'll happen, and if it doesn't then you probably wouldn't have liked it anyway!

Yeah, very busy - I just got work at a gear store in the city and they're shifting stores, so everyone's been flat out building shelves and sorting stock and moving boxes - very full-on!!

Well ... after being at Uni all year a bit of work might be a nice change

too true! I'm not used to 10 hours of actual work, as opposed to just talking about work!!!

Okay, Feisor, You're an Ace and I'm just a Jetsammingalong, never panicking but quite confused Newbie.

I am not afraid to ask for help when I am confused.

I am fearless in that regard.

Okay, you left a note near my journal entry. I went to a friend's "Welcome to My Personal Space" and saw yours and slurped up the drool before it hit the keyboard and said "Wow, how do I do that?"

Ummm, I did go to the FAQ's and a few other spots but I must be missing something. I have no "Welcome To My Personal Space" button to click on. Could it be it was not tethered down and flew away?

Hopefully you'll find this some time soon and can zip over to that place where you posted your kind-Ace offer to help. This would be (I will not repeat the dreaded Martha Stewart Phrase, I will not *eyes squinching hard shut here* - too much Martha Stewart seeps into Canuck Televesion) this would be ... very much appreicated. (Whew, I avoided that catch phrase I vowed to cut from my vocabulary about bon choses!)

-you are not the first person to have problems finding how to open your space I promise

If you click on "My Space" it will take you to your personal space - hit the edit page button any type in anything. At the bottom of the page change to GuideML - don't worry about why - it will make it easier as you get to know about this place later - then hit the "update entry" button - that's all there is to it.

If this is not clear let me know which "skin" you are using - it should be in the URL - either "classic" "brunel" or "alabaster" - and we'll go from there
