I'm starting to wonder if my little home page here is getting too long....

I thought the same thing about my page, but look at it this way:
Most of the people visiting the page have been there before, and are just checking up. I've been to your page frequently, so whenever you add something, it's just "wow! What a pleasant surprise! Something new...". And if someone is cruising the pages, whether it be through a link on someone else's page or whatnot, they are probably pretty bored if they are clicking on links from other pages and whatnot and will be fairly impressed by the load of cool stuff. Pages with lots of stuff are really fun. And they will be hooked, and come back more often, at which point they would get new surprises too. I just took the fish display off because it took too long to load...
Oh well, just jabbering...

Thanks Fenchurch. I know that I check out your page more often than others because you update it frequently. Even if it is just a journal entry. Trying to write guide entries is what pays the bills, but all the extras, they are the real fun. I was just thinking that my page could get ridiculously long, since I never turn down anyone who wants to join the team. But I suppose a lot of stuff is much more interesting than little or no stuff. I'll probably change the clubhouse page soon, because it will be tough continually adding people's names to it - I'll probably just a simple description for it, since the "meat" is in the forums. I'll probably also add or change my own name suggestions for the team from time to time.
Like the new cast picture, by the way. Your pal should see a doctor about that fuzzy stuff obscuring his face...

I gotta add a bunch of stuff to my page... I have it all typed out, I just never get around to pasting it...
But yah, the thing about your page is it's about as interactive as you can get with just some pages and forums...I mean, you can join things, pick things, it's like an actual digital softball team, without the bother of having to play softball . The team members are actually attatched, i.e. now we all know each other and visit each other's pages because of your place... I think it's really clever, I'd just hate to see any of it go...

well perhaps I should make a backup of my page......

Hey Fenchurch, I thought of a way to help frequent visitors to my page, and that is.....to make it longer!!! See what you think....

Good idea. It's got this "Fresh off the presses, super important stuff you should participate in" aura . I like it.

Yes, my powers are endless. And at the same time, I looked up the price of gold per ounce to settle an argument. Now I'm looking up the price of plutonium, just out of curiosity...and hoping the government isn't tracing my wherebouts and sending their secret men out after me...

Fenchurch - I've shortened up the main page a bit - see what you think.

Yeah, now it's a bit less confusing to new people (I would imagine) and everything's still there... are you going to clear the updates every week or so, or just keep one up at a time?

Uh....depends how active I am. I want to have no more than 2 updates showing at any one time, in order to keep it from being too full of stuff and displeasing to the eye. That's what the "older updates" link is for - in case you miss something.
Congrats on having your ARSE showing on the front page, by the way!
Glad my mountains article flows better now. But what did you mean about the BBC?

Wow, older updates arcive and everything!
Once JTG told me that it's easier to sound informative if you imagine you're a reporter for the BBC, and the article does seem to have a lot more info in it now...
Now all we have to do is get them to notice GIRR enough to come up with some official release of XML tricks...

Ahhh...I see now. Yes, I did the BBC thing. In fact, I AM the BBC!!
(actually I took more time thinking about the article, and consulted with a pal from Denver, but don't tell anyone. Everyone should think it was the BBC thing....)
I keep hearing the Powers That Be are going to help us out with custom user pages and stuff, but I imagine it has a low priority for now....

Ah! My lips are sealed . If you think about it, it is a BBC thing, all the research, you see?
Yea, I've heard about the customised pages too, but I've had mixed feelings... I kind of like how it is now, everyone's on pretty equal ground, giving us more variable things to tinker with could change it, we've already seen example of people using discoveries in bad ways... I don't know, like I always say, as long as they get to my articles soon, I've got no problem
