Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron

I just spent some time browsing through Classmates.com. Since I quit in 10th grade, I only vaguely remember most of those people. I'd be really curious to go back and meet some of them. Public school was sort of a vague memory for me anyway. I always viewed it as an ordeal to be survived until I tuned 16 and could escape, and escape I did.

It strikes me as odd when I look through the little bio things and it says married with children. How can the people I went to high school with have children? I guess in my mind I still think of them as 16.

Maybe I do have a certain fondness for my vague memories of back then (I've always had a strong sense of nostalgia). I do have a strange fondness for high school movies, like The Breakfast Club and American Pie. That's probably because I didn't go through the whole deal. I have an outsiders view. It's an interesting look into what I never did.

This last weekend, I went back to visit my wife's hometown in Ohio. She grew up in a small town. I get a kick out of hearing her stories about high school. On the other hand, I see her friends from school. A lot of them don't seem to have done anything since high school. They seem to have gotten married, and started working, and that's it.

Maybe it's a skewed view of things. I'm 31. I've been a cop for not quite five years, and I still see myself as being at the beginning of my career. I look down the road and see all sorts of interesting vacation opportunities, lifestyle changes, and career opportunities. To me the future is exciting. I couldn't imagine doing the same thing day in and day out for the next two decades.
