... it's been a while since I last wrote and I wanted to remove the cobwebs a little...

I'm still here, I'm still alive, I'm just working very hard on my PhD (with only occasional breaks to watch Buffy on thursday nights).

I've almost finished gathering data on normally hearing primary school children, and am about to start the final lot of testing on hearing impaired kids. So yay me.



Hopefully I'll be finished testing by mid-July and then can write up over the summer and submit at the end of August or early September. I'm trying to write some of the thesis as I go along... it's hard work though. Two different brain-modes. And I think my grey cells are dying off rapidly.

Anyone else here done the PhD thing and can cheer me on a bit?

I'm thinking of doing the PhD thing, does that help?

I'm doing a PhD thing a the moment. I got to this space of yours as a result of reading your entry on depression. When you say the Uni magazine I assume you mean 'Impact'. I used to write for Impact (I was Science editor in 97/98 then General Manager for 98/99). Unfortunately I'm no longer at Nottingham but have moved onto Reading which isn't half as nice. In your entry you interview Dr White who's the wife of my final year project supervisor, also called Dr White, oddly enough, in Biochemistry. In your entry you mention Primary School kids. You don't happen to live just off Harley Street by any chance? Sorry if this all sounds a bit stilted, I've just had to fast overnight and give blood this morning for a Master's student project.

I really enjoyed your webpage on Catholicism - you give a really clear account of what we believe and why. I hope some people from the Religion and Ethics message board will drop by and have some of their misunderstandings addressed.

How is your PhD going? Have you submitted? I have just recently finished my own PhD in psychology. I thought the last few months were the hardest, but after the viva I suddenly felt it was all worthwhile.
