Mina Posted Dec 14, 2002
I changed from Linda back to Mina because the other Editors got so confused that I got called Linda *and* Mina in the same sentence, which eventually seemed to evolve into 'Minda' which was totally unaceptable. And I wasn't the only Linda Ward in the BBC, so I had an 01 in my email address, which everyone hated. So I changed back. I think that Mina suits me better anyway!
I don't think it matters if you change your name, although it might be helpful to other members of the Community if you leave Tango in brackets for a while until we all get used to it. And it'll save the problem of signing the wrong name.
PS would someone explain Jim's joke please?

delta=change in, normally abbr. to d or a little triange (the greek symbol). It is used in calculas and such like: dx/dy etc. (or is it dy/dx? )
Don't the BBC mind you not using your real name? What name is on your pay checks? Does the linda email addy foward to the mina one, so people don't get too confused?
Maybe I should put Tango in brackets. In fact i did when i first changed it but removed it straight away. I like confusing people. it serves them right for confusing me all the time. I'll think about it. Or maybe not.

It can be either dy/dx or dx/dy, depending on what you're actually measuring... In words, dy/dx means 'the rate of change of variable y with respect to variable x' - ie how big a change you get in y per (unit) change in x. So acceleration would be dv/dt (v for velocity, t for time).

Yes, I get it, honestly!
No, my email has changed to Mina too. As my bank accounts are all named Linda my file is in my real name, but Mina is counted as my 'preferred' name, so the wage slips have Mina on them. But I still get mail addressed to both names. People seem to have adjusted well. Better than I have most of the time.
Slug changed her name to Rainbow, and she kept slug in brackets for a looooooong time I think.

the dance / music Tango is very popular in the Netherlands, because since 2 february 2002 we have Argintina Princess called Maxima. she married the Crown Prince of Dutch Royal Family. during weding a Tango was played...I think it sold over million records!

Do you know how many people I have had to convince that my name has nothing to do with dancing? (or fizzy drinks for that matter)
