Mock GCSEs

My journals are getting a bit repetitive aren't they? No more school days before my mocks starts!
I'm currently using h2g2 as an excuse not to revise, so I am really posting this journal as an excuse to be on h2g2. Hmmm...
Anyone got any ideas for something to do?

I didn't revise that much overall - I spent time on h2g2 too.
Remember the idea of 40 minutes work, 5 minutes planned break? Well, I liked to apply it the other way around!
Seriously, though, it's worth revising. I'm sure if I'd revised Geography a bit harder I'd have got an A* and not an A. It could make all the difference, even an increase of one single mark on one paper!

Oh - and don't worry about these mocks. I got a C in History mock, and an A* in the real thing. This is because the bad marks were given out to most people - to make them buck their ideas up!

Your school did that? They're mad, without good mocks some colleges won't even give you an interview. Still, i'm sure i'll cope.

PS You did a whole 5 mins revision? I get bored before i've even got the stuff out.

Yeah, but my school could get away with it because it's 13 - 18 yrs.
In that case, good luck, and GET REVISING!!!

The way i see it there are 2 main ways of learning, memorising and understanding. Revision only helps memorise things, i learn by understanding them.

OK. If that's what you think. Although there is a strong element of factual recall to GCSEs. You should do *active* revision - try those funny revision guides - they're childish, but they do sometimes help the info to stick. It must be the awful pictures... http://www.cgpbooks.co.uk/ is the URL. See if the sample pages work for you!
Meanwhile, could you pass your eyes over A873074 for me? That's if you're not too busy revising...

I have a load of revision guides, i find them too patronising and it drives me mad reading them.
I had a look at the proposal. I looks good, but it seems very similar to the current guidelines (i haven't read them in a while though, so take this with a pinch of salt) but just friendlier and a little more helpful. Have I missed something?

There are a few rewordings here and there, but the aim is mainly to clarify and not to drastically change the meaning. If you read the backlog of the conversation that I link to you'll see what it's all about.

Yep, that's seems right. I didn't see any drastic changes, and now i know there weren't meant to be any. Good!

"So you just got the books out but didn't open them?"
