Getting wrecked, and the uselessness of certain train companies..
Grendel Started conversation Apr 8, 2000
God, what a night! Funny how things turn out, and last night couldn't have turned out funnier.. I was on my way to Croydon to meet someone (a bird!), and I got as far as Blackfriars (after a nightmare journey on the Circle line) when I found the connecting train had been cancelled. Because they couldn't find a driver.
Now call me naive but there's still circa 1m. unemployed people in Britain. Surely they can train a few of these up to be train drivers, allowing those of us with proper jobs to go and get drunk in various places around the country with ease. But no. So, up yours Thameslink. And your trains from Bedford are crap too.
Anyway, having almost resolved to go back home, I rang my good friend Ed, who was up for a few beers, so he joined me in Hammersmith for a few beers, which were quaffed with vigour. We ended the evening with a 'Jim Carver' each - a pint of strong lager & a scotch!
After that, everything's a blur, but I did wake up in Ed's house this morning, so I got something right. Straight back to Bedford via Burger King, and here I am... still feel bloody awful. I'm getting far too old for this.. I'm 23 in 2 weeks!!
