Well, I've got to the end.

I sent Brian across a bridge over the Lot in the rain. I made Alison and Francois agree to part, as their relationship is running out of steam. And I took Alison back to St Therese, to talk to the architect about plans for the new house, in the spring as the plum blossom opens. All of this reads as if it's written by someone who's in a hurry to finish! smiley - laugh

I've tried to count the words of the chapters and pieces I might use in my novel. And it's not a novel. It's too short at only 46,000 words smiley - sigh
So, I've got a few options. I can scrap the lot and decide to take up knitting, or rework it, adding pieces where I feel they're needed; or i can scrap Dreaming in Stone and start something else.

Yes! The end! Now we need the completed version, posted here, in episodes. Thankyouverymuch. Whenever you're ready..

heheh. (cheeky grin). smiley - biggrin

Where does Brian go, when he crosses the bridge? I like that, 'I've sent Brian across a bridge over the Lot, in the rain.' That's poetic, the way you say it. smiley - rofl.

Scrap the lot, and take up knitting???? You can't scrap the lot, because Brian just went across a bridge over the Lot, haha, the lot, and he can't cross over a bridge that's been scrapped.

Hmm, I'll allow you to take up knitting, provided you don't scrap the Lot. hurrumph. Cor honestly, writers.

When does your course start again? Are you going to run the completed version by your classmates? Do you have to hand it in, for assessment?

Thank you cactuscafe. smiley - smiley

Brian goes to some cheap lodgings in Caillac. I wanted a last image of him crossing the bridge in the rain with a suitcase. smiley - cry

I think I'll probably have a month off and then do a rewrite. I'm restarting my course in October, and will hand in chapters at a time.

Should I post it on hootoo? I'm not sure. It's still a work in progress, and I'm a bit wary of losing my copyright . Just in case someone wants to publish it. smiley - whistle

I think you should go with your instincts, re putting it out on hootoo. Copyright is crucial, and I like the way you're approaching it. And if your work does eventually get published, you'll be well pleased that you protected it.

Yay! If or when it's available, let me know, I'll attempt to be patient, smiley - rofl, and be first in line for my copy, have to catch up with my people. I already need to visit Brian in his lodgings!

Month off sounds like a plan, let it all settle. Can you do that, without peeking at the script? What if the characters tug at your sleeve?

I've already gone back and looked at the last few scenes again! Looks as if I'm hooked on it.smiley - laugh

Is it a known disorder 'fiction writing addiction' perhaps, or 'would-be-novelist's syndrome'?

Hah! A case of fiction-addiction, which has a nice rhyme to it, to make matters worse, or better. smiley - rofl. And perhaps the only cure is to keep writing fiction. heheh. A fictional cure.

I can imagine a group of writers at a fiction-addiction clinic. They sit and talk about their addiction to fiction, then they get out their notebooks and write the next scenes in their novels. Which feature a fiction - addiction clinic, where all the writers are writing in their notebooks...smiley - laugh

Hah! This sounds like a fictional world within a fictional addictional world, that I could live in quite happily! I'm there already. I can see the scene. Uh oh, most worrying. smiley - rofl.

Addictional? Not a word. 'Tis now. smiley - rofl.

I love it! Your next project, after Dreaming In Stone.
