Tomorrow is my 29th birthday. One more year until I hit the big 30!
I was always obssessed with the thought of being 28, I assumed that everything would be wonderful, it would be the year that everything came right. So was I right? Was it a 365 day nirvana?
In some ways. I now have a wonderful boyfriend I love with all my heart. Having been single for so long, it was a (nice) shock to find that I could connect so deeply with someone else. It was a bit shocking to find that the person who would turn my world upside down had been under my nose for the last five years or so. To the friends who helped bring us together, I owe a huge debt I hope to repay one day. Ian, I love you completely and utterly. I never understood what John Lennon meant when he said 'Love is the answer and you know that for sure' until that day in Cambridge.
In other ways it has been an incredibly tough year, culminating in losing my beloved best friend Henry the . It is only now that I have come to see that all that I have experienced - be it good or bad - is helping to shape me as a person. I feel good about the coming year - I know it will bring bad as well as good but I know it will make me a stronger, wise person.
I would also like to say thank you to the h2g2 Community - an amazing group of people who I am in awe of. You continue to amuse, enlighten and inspire me. I consider myself lucky to have contributed to this amazing project as a Researcher and an Editor.
Love and peace to you and those you hold dear,
Abi

I'm not really here Posted Feb 2, 2002
Happy Birthday Abi.
Hope you have a great day.
Don't worry about turning 30. It was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I finally knew who I was.
(FYI the other two things were having my son, and getting my new job.)

I forgot I was the baby of the bunch
Happy Birthday! Sorry to hear about Henry - I guess even Robodogs run out of parts eventually....just be grateful he's chasing cars again without feeling that hip

Hi Abi - just living up top my museship
Actually, i think you're right about 28 - I've been 28 and some months for a wee bit of time m'self...
Had to grumble, though, last week when my wife made up the numbers and reminded me it was 132 months...
But you're never older than the person inside you (which in my case is troubling, according to some )...

And with all we're doing all over h2g2 to keep you busy, you probably will never have time to feel any older...
Comforting thought, isn't it?
