Yes. Yes they do.
We're moving a week from Saturday and they can't promise we'll have phone service. It may take upwards of a month.

I mean, what is that all about?

I posted that from my web-enabled cell phone (NOT Verizon, by the way; it's on the Sprint PCS system, and those folks are quite lovely and don't suck). My home phone should have been on a week ago, and not only is it still not on, they haven't even done the disconnect of my old location (scheduled for Monday).

I haven't had any problems yet with phones, except it seems the 411 thing is out which i use at work. But the strikers are everywhere. We live just down the street from one of the main offices.

They ought to put a recording of hysterical laughter when you call 411. Or Mike Myers saying "We're here for you... NOT!!!" As if. Just don't move; you won't get a phone for a month.

I can still get a p-hone, you can get phone service from companies other than the baby bells. Besides, when i move, i doubt a phone will be financially feasible ahywho.

I heard on the news the other night that New York has settled its strike, but Pennsylvania is hanging in there and refusing to go back to work...

Maybe nationalizing the phone company would be a good idea.

(What am I thinking? Of course it wouldn't! I work in government - we can't do anything right the first time!!)

In most places around here I can't get a landline phone without the baby Bell. Anyway, they did settle this area's strike last night.

I think around the seventh of August.
Though after we moved into the new house, I needed directory assistance and got the polite 'Are you kidding, we're on strike!' message.

Funny that the bills come on time...

Oh, yes, my bill came on time, that's for sure. I have no intention of paying it, of course. It's basically all for time that the phone's been off, since they bill in advance. And what are they going to threaten me with anyway? smiley - winkeye

I'm now actively looking for a way I can cancel my Verizon order and thus tell them where they can shove their crummy service. I could probably get by without any phone at home at all, but I need internet service. Perhaps AT&T Broadband can help me. smiley - winkeye
